That's all they focus on, camera, some bogus how fast they open apps, fingerprint or whatever security. No mentions about call quality, the types of bands supported. Now a days they seem to be wanting what everyone else and are mostly catered towards social media stuff. Saying a headphone jack now is like a new, exclusive feature. Thanks to Apple stupid decisions and others for following dumb ideas. A lot of phones nowadays are just overpriced devices with not many real world usefulness, more privacy and camera focused. Back in the days reviewers used to talk about everything but now it's a waste

None of them mentioned in the video the 3 year updates of the pixel in terms of Operating system and security patches. Software support is what makes pixel phones being apart of the rest in the android universe, and one of their main selling points. What a huge omission!!

I just can't understand why anyone would "prefer" a notch to a large top bezel. At 6:28 into this video is a prime example of how notches just intrude into your movie. You really have to honestly ask yourself, if you were watching a movie on your big screen TV in your living room and an object on or near your TV stand was protruding into the screen, would you just leave it there and keep watching the movie, or would you get up and move it out of your view? If you're not willing to "deal with it" on your TV, why should you be willing to on you phone? Notches and pin holes irritate the heck out of me and I'm so glad Google is not following this stupid trend with the Pixel 4. I'll GLADLY take a large top bezel filled with all kinds of great technology and NOTHING intruding into my movies over some gimmicky notch or pin hole to maximize a screen size by a few millimeters. I mean, the Moto G7 screen looks like you are trying to watch a movie on a heart shaped screen. It's just RIDICULOUS! Totally looking forward to my Pixel 4 XL!

I bought a g7 new from Google for $150. Compared to an equally sized pixel 3a xl for $479 from Google it was an easy choice. A download of the Google camera app and this g7 is nearly identical to the 3a xl for $329 less. Love the g7

It was $149 from Google fi during a deal at the first of September There was no set amount of time the phone needed to be activated on Fi. All that is required is that it be activated within 30 days of shipping. You could even activate and cancel service within the same day, if you'd like.

Call quality is fine, clear with no issues. The speaker on it was admittedly bad. When Android pie was added to these phones it's broke the Dolby audio app. The developers opted to make it permanently activated at a setting that made things too loud and unclear. Dolby audio may be deactivated following these steps. 1. Connect to headphones/speakers/Bluetooth audio. 2. Switch off Dolby 3. Go to Settings/Applications 4. Force stop Dolby app 5. Block Dolby app completely Speaker audio is now on par with most other phones. A shame that the development team has not corrected the issue appropriately. My guess is that they have to work through Dolby to get it fixed.

I have g7 and iPhone xr. One for business and the other personal. Honestly I think the G7 is just as good and way underrated. The camera is also very good... Fast and surprisingly good in low light despite the negative camera reviews. It absolutely smokes the camera I had on my lg v20 in low light. And pictures are nice and bright and punchy. The iPhone photos are great too. Maybe better dynamic range. But iPhone washes out landscapes. I all not sure the iPhone cost can be justified... Just good marketing. iPhone software sucks...no back arrows... And touch screen has to be tapped on several times to work. Got my g7 for $129 at Best buy... Which is a steal. Make sure you get really good case though... Since all glass construction. I broke mine 2nd week... barely dropped and screen and back cracked. I'm guessing the Google is good too...like the iPhone but not worth paying more. Plus screen too small unless you get xl model...

I'll take the 3a all day everyday. The 📷 is a no contest. The OLED display, stereo speakers, & Google's software although Moto's is stock also. I was big time Moto fan but they always suffer with their 📷's barely cracking the top 10. I paid 4oo.oo tax included for the 3a XL. For myself it's definitely worth the extra money. But if you only have two hundred to spend the G7 isn't too shabby! Nice review ladies!

Would add that there are deals of $150-$240 on the Motorola G7 depending on where you get it. Some require paying for an additional carrier line though. Not sure you'll find any other deals on the Pixel 3A though.

@@dylanpower1438 Dude it has never lagged. The only time I notice a lag is when I click photos in a night mode. I also notice a lag when I am trying to scroll through google photos. Otherwise in browsing, apps, texting, calling, watching videos, there is no lag. There is an attractive under-tone to this phone, I can't put a finger on it. It just feels like a complete phone without gimmicks and with a strong intention to serve. 7 hours on screen time you can get. Sometimes I use google maps (navigation) on 90% brightness for 90 minutes and its battery goes down by a mere 12-15% thats remarkable.

Also One more thing : Google Wallpapers on this phone looks better than any phone. Granted the Samsungs have the best screen but the launcher by default on pixel is so likeable it blows away the others.

Also, side by side pics are done with different scaling so it's impossible to compare overall size in your hand, etc (e.g., see 00:45).

How about a test on a phone with best performance overall just on the phone aspect, regardless if it is a smart phone or a flip phone. Thanks for a great comparason. Nice review and comparison. If I were buying today, I'd go for the Pixel 3a or 3a XL. That said, I've been a very happy Moto G7 owner with GCam app. It's a very good and satisfying phone overall. With a decent case, it's also extremely durable - it's water resistance is legit. It can survive a downpour or find itself in a backpack where a water bottle accidentally opened up and soaked it just fine. Nice job, Moto. Also worth considering for the insane battery life is the Moto G7 Power, a cousin of the G7. Don't forget to mention it in your next comparison as an alternative to both the 3a and regular G7.

I have a Moto g7 power as a second phone purely down to the unreal battery life (literally lasts me days at a time!) And was an absolute bargain for its price. Was actually bought as a Strava machine for my handlebars. However, for my only phone I'd spend the extra and get the pixel due to updates and camera alone 👍

Oh... Forgot to my mention... If you take a lot of selfies then you don't want the G7... Because there's no selfie flash. So don't even think about taking selfies at night... Will just be terrible images. But aside from that the camera is great for photos even at night. Video can struggle to focus in low light. But I don't take a lot of selfies or video at night so this camera works well for me...

Get the 3a- timely updates for 3 years so you won't get stuck with outdated Android for years, and if you need more storage get the OTG adapter and connect any size flash drive you need for your portable storage needs should 64gb be not enough. Many reviews of G7 don't mention the odd 19:9 ratio with the teardrop notch which many apps do not support, you will still have black bars on sides when watching videos or using browsers - what's the point of that screen size if it's not supported !

When taking photos, do you have to have the micro SD (in the OTG adapter) connected to the phone or can you just take a bunch of photos using the internal memory and then hook up the adapter/SD card and transfer them over?

That's weird, my G7 only plays the Moto giggle at boot up. I'll by the G8 when it comes out and that's why I don't care about OS updates. I buy a new phone every year instead of spending a grand on a phone, I can buy several over the years.

Facts about the camera. I have the G7 Play and the camera over saturates and the videos shake crazy if you have to move. I did a video comparisons against my iPhone 7. Then uploaded them to my laptop to play on a TV. If you turn down the exposure on the G7 the videos come out better but it's not that far off in quality. It does have image stabilization but only for 1080p 30 & 720p. Not 1080p 60 and 4K.

I'll strongly go with the Moto G7. If I can't put an SD Card in it then it's just useless to me. I keep my pictures and music on my SD Card which I can pull out of one cellphone and put into another. The last time I changed cellphones I backed up what I needed onto the SD Card and then stuck it into the new one. ALL of my contacts, pictures, music, etc. was right there after I did a restore on the new phone. Didn't have to waste time using WiFi, Bluetooth, computer or data transferring.

Someone already did... I watched that video so I can tell you... The Pixel 3a actually performs as well as the Pixel 2 in terms of general app usage and camera. However, after taking a picture the Pixel 3a take a tiny bit longer than the Pixel 2 to process the picture. This difference is only noticeable having the phones side by side... Where the Pixel 2 out performs the Pixel 3a is heavy apps, which are usually the gaming apps. If you are a phone gamer and want faster loading times without stuttering, Pixel 2 is for you. If you just want a fast app experience without gaming, a fantastic camera and great battery, then the Pixel 3a is for you.

Agreed - mine just got ran over by a car on the highway and I need an emergency replacement - chose the G7 because I can get it in the morning (stupid Christmas, everything's closed)... sadly not until 10, which cuts into my work hours severely. Nice thing with the G5+ was the metal body - it warped, but didn't crush... the screen became separated and tore the ribbon cables off... but didn't crack. I managed to verify that the system board is functional so I ordered a screen so I can do some straight forward data recovery.. and I ordered a used G5+ so I can have a solid backup phone... my phone is too important for business to risk being down for more than the time it takes for me to get to an AT&T or to swap SIM cards.

I had hard choice between a G7 and and Pixel 3a. I was coming from a Moto g5s plus. After over s year and a half the device stopped receiving software updates. I upgraded to the Pixel 3a. I really wish it had expandable storage because I travel often and I would like to download movies and music for flights when I have no wifi or data. I am not much of techie, 3a OS feels good and love the NFC for tmoments I don't have my wallet with me. I hope the next budget pixel phone has better options. Overall I am happy with my pixel 3a

Pixel is on android 10 and moto is stuck on Android 9 forever. For all those saying they will buy a new phone to get android 10 by the time moto comes out with the g8 the pixel 3a will be on Android 11 and you will have spent 600 on budget phones by then....

@@anthonythung874 but the Motorola will always lag updates compared to the pixel which is always the first to receive OS and security updates for atleast 2 years. Motorola probably won't even update it past one OS update. Not to mention, the weaker camera on the G7 for a higher price than the pixel 3a.

Help please! I am due for an upgrade really soon and I am seriously considering to get this 3a for the price and essential features. I am curious to know how is the Pixel 3a holding up? Does it have the same problems with charging, random rebooting, and screen issues as the flagship Pixel 3? I am coming from an iPhone 8, I have been using iPhones since 3GS and quite nervous about switching over to Android. But I think if I would switch to Android, it has to be pure/vanilla

It's a good thing you're switching from Apple 😂. But it depends on your daily use of the phone, which that should narrow down more of your choice. I got the g7 mainly because expandable storage and a decent processor. I don't know much about pixel 3a except that the price is steep for me lol.

Great video. I'm happy to hear someone else complain about that stupid moto sound. How in the world do moto company people think that sounds good? It's a horrid sound and always has been. Moto has been tearing it up in budget phones. The g6 series was great and they kept it going with the g7 series it seems. I hear the pixel devices are stank on battery life. Those bezels are a real turn off in today's phone market as well.

The g7 plus model is better than the g7, it has a much better camera sensor, the same one used in the one plus 6. It also has dual stereo speakers which are the best I've heard since my HTC m7. Better processor and NFC and ois. Install the gcam app on your Moto g7 or plus and see if there's much of a difference in the picture quality 😁 No SD card slot gave the pixel 3a a miss for me ☹️

The g7 power is better, and its great for mincraft earth becoase of the huge 5000 mAh battery. btw you can turn of the motorola gingle in settings, and to prevent the phone from slipping out of your hands just get a case.

V S G Cam/Pixel apk. Pixel camera quality is mostly software calculated, and Google released it’s camera apk. It’s just not in the Play store, so you have to side load it
