I'm considering g7 plus or honor 8x and people usually complain about battery life. I wonder .... I'm used to have whatsapp, skype, facebook and this apps eat battery. Also I sometimes have BT and GPS on permanently to play pokemons (it's stupid game, but good to kill time while commuting and to somewhat relax). Honor 6X worked with BT/GPS/screen on over 4 hours and i was able to deplete battery before evening only when I shared wifi in place with not perfect signal where phone switched between 4G and edge a lot.

No noticeable problems with Internet (in Europe). And I don't regret buying it. Battery life is not horrible, it survives two days when I don't use it at all, it usually survives to the evening between 70-30% depending on use.

Hi Mr. Williams. I just bought a pair of the Alexa Version of the G7 phones off Amazon for $299 and my wife and I love it. Like you said, these phones are slippery as hell. I don't know what they are made of. Mine slid off the arm of my ricliner and ended up 3 feet away from me. How the hell did it travel 3 feet across the carpet? LOL . The performance is amazing , screen is beautiful , and it runs beautifully on stock Android Pie . The nipple on the screen where the selfie cam is looks silly but in just a day I got over it. My final outcome is it : throw a case on it & you have a winner at only $300 unlocked.....and with Alexa built in ( purchased on Amazon) non the less. I refuse to pay $1,000 or more for a phone that's going to be obsolete in 3 years and no more updates forcing you to buy another phone anyway. I'm really enjoying this phone. Cheers .

I have the G7 Power. I'm quite satisfied. Performance is great. Thought I would miss the options that a dual front facing camera provides but I don't find this phone lacking in this area even though it only has a single front facing camera. Battery life is phenomenal.

Aww... J, the design is old?! You crazy. Haha The upcoming Pixel 3a & 3a XL's designs are old. You might even say the Nokia 9 Pureview's design is old. The G7's is still current, even if it's not the nicest out there. Nice video as always though. Take care!

Amazon has nice covers with free shipping. I agree it looks cool with the cracked back. I'd get a clear case so you can see it. With HSN and Tracfone, I buy a 1 year plane for $100 and get the phone free, so if I break the phone, I'll just buy another year of service. It also comes with a cover. I probably don't use my phone as much as you do so their plan is fine for a senior citizen like me. BTW, I haven't dropped a phone in over 5 years and right before it hit the floor, I put my foot out so it cushioned the fall so the phone really only hit the floor from about an inch.

J. Williams I think you just had bad luck. The phone hit the floor with the very wrong spot! Thats indeed very unfortunate. I am always discussing with myself, whether I should use a case or not! Cases kill the design of the phones imo! Its a hard decision. I like the G7 though. Its worth it!

The bezels are an unfortunate thing but LCD doesn't have the flexibility of AMOLED or OLED so bezels are what they are at the price point. The glass back on phones with no wireless charging...I don't get it, I wished OEMs would use a different material. I think it's a definite upgrade from the G6, base storage, ram, display and processor. But I don't think it's a 100 dollar bump from the previous gen.

that's where I'm at, thinking of waiting awhile and nabbing either the G7 itself or G7 Power later on sale, I heard the cams are really good once you install the GCAM app but for what they cost retail I could honestly get a new flagship online for that price or a tiny bit more lol. Phones in general have sadly all gone up in price in recent years, I wish consumers would kinda step up to the companies and say hey this isn't cool. I still daily drive an almost 4 year old iphone 6S but want a better camera without breaking the bank. I think vanilla android is where it's at though, a vanilla android cheap budget phone moto e4 years ago stayed consistently smooth.

You know J, glass phones break really easy ! That's why I ordered a Otterbox with my new G7, which I just ordered. Had a S10, then lost it with a year and a 1/2 still in my contract so buying another overpriced flagship cell at breaking the bank prices was not a option. I surfed a few vids of cell phones and went with the G7, the memory, performance, battery sold me. Camera not a biggie,been told I have a face for radio so selfies not a thing for me,unless I'm with my dog. 😎🐕

Nice review. Love these midrange phones. I refuse to pay more than $300 for a phone. So that leaves me looking for used flagships from the previous year or current midrangers. That is where the value is. I bought the Moto X4 last year and loved it (now my daughter uses it and loves it) and now I use an Essential PH-1 which I bought for $250 on prime day.

I am VERY VERY clumsy and drop or break something almost every day and I always have, no matter how I try not to. I say import the G7 Plus (if in the US), it is a pretty good phone and has dual speakers and NFC and Sd 660. G7 Plus is so underrated. With the GCam mod it takes very good pics

I really can't complain with mine. Got a rather inexpensive case on it right now. I'm waiting on Zizo to make a case for this phone so that I can put a better one on it. It does need all the protection you can get for it but hands down it is a good value for your money.

Question. I don't understand the speaker at the bottom. So when you talk on it, you don't hold it up to your head/ear like a normal phone that has speaker at the top and mic at the bottom? What if you want to talk with it turned down so everyone else does not hear what the other person is saying? Do you hold bottom to your ear then hold mic to mouth and go back and forth. g7 play / G7 plus are both out the race .. best choice in my opinion is the standard G7 or the G7 power which boosts the battery by an extra 2000 amps

I'm on an old school Motorola Droid with the battery U can't remove I was lucky for a long time with this battery but its not upgradable n many apps won't suport this 4.1 looking at a Moto G7 right now that's unlocked n has that beast battery but there's 4 different G7 n some don't have the beast battery n some aren't unlocked n some are 3gb of ram n not 4 but running pie at 9.1 with the 632 snapdragon with a normal droid look is kinda impressing me at 199.00 best deal I've seen so far but U know I'd love to be able to snag it for 99.00 or even 129.00 because of what U just said about the glass n many complaints I've seen them I know I'll need a case n a few other things!! I think I can deal with all the trouble spots but so disappointed there's no wireless charging but U do have the turbo charge which takes U to 6 hr charge in 15 minutes I think if I can find the G7 I want for 129.00 I'd be happy to get off this KitKat😁 great job on the review definitely didn't fall in line like all the other reviews n gave the trouble spots 👍

Same 632 chip, same size screen, 3g ram (in US), 720p vs 1080p like the above mentioned phone comparisons, and a 5000ma battery that has some reviewers crowning it the new battery champ! Plus the back is polymer glass making it much more shatter proof. Haven't seen one in the flesh yet but sounds like an interesting phone ت

This was a really good review. I had pretty much decided on the Samsung S10e, but based on this review, I'm now inclined towards the Moto G7. Only question I have is how good is the voice quality, since I will often use for business. Nobody talks about it, maybe because it's assumed that it is good, but I would still like to know.

My Moto G7 had an intermittent problem, some incoming calls were going to voice mail. Read the lenovo forum below and you will see this is a problem going back to the Moto E series phones. And it continues today with the Moto G7. I returned my phone. Also, the Moto phone had a problem when using an external microphone, if the sound was not modulating, like talking, the recording would be reduced to a constant low level recording. To verify the problem was with the phone, the mic was tried on a Samsung, and the problem did not happen again. My g7 power cracked at the base and shattered the front a while back. Literally fell off my night stand about 2 feet. Ive dropped my v40 and pixel 3 xl from the same spot about 60 times and nothing. Damn shame because Iove that phone.

I've owned a iPhone 3, Samsung Mega and Samsung S7 edge that the screen crack when it dropped from my bed to carpeted floor. Never again will I waste money on $800 phones. I purchased a Motor 4 plus, have dropped it numerous times on concrete with no cover and it still looks new. Bottom line Moto makes better phone.

I have the Moto e5 plus and change nothing but the screen and my preference is the g6 (The speaker does sound loud 😖😖🤒 AAA my 👂)

@@Badnercalabrese I have the phone and it does seem to have wifi issues so I just use it on my unlimited data plan. Great phone for me.
