They have the perfect line up. The Pixel 5a is the SE of Android devices. The Pixel 6 is going after the Chinese flagships like OnePlus, Xiaomi Etc. The pro is going after the Samsungs flagships and the other flagships around. Personally I don't think Apple and Android can compete with each other is two different animals now. Regular people can't survive without IMessage even if android has a better offering.

Low light photos and all video seems to be a decent amount better on the Pixel 6. The dogs at 3:30 or even the indoor video of you at 5:29 definitely look better. Of course both phones still have a very similar style, but I think in this case the evolution rather than revolution is probably a good thing considering that at least in photos the Pixel line was already very well regarded.

Good Morning Daniel from Philadelphia, you posted the make or break video for me so I again thank you. I bought the 5a in August when it launched I've had it for a little over 2 months now. I was waiting for the camera department video but everyone I've seen is comparing the 5a to the 6pro and not just the 6 itself which is annoying. Comparing a 450 to 899 cmon. As someone who doesn't care about tensor or snapdragon and doesn't do hardcore gaming I'm sticking to my 5a. The cameras are so close in different aspects. It's hard to justify unless you care about the things I mentioned above then the 6 is a set. Thank you for being the first to compare the base 6 against the 5a in the camera department. You must replace what most pixel users care about over others or the consumer in general.

I have a 4a as well, but the 5a and 4a use the same main camera and there shouldn't be any differences. That said, I found the pixel 6 to be a little more saturated than the 5a but handled skies and low light situations better

I don't know why but the front camera on my Pixel 6 (received yesterday) is significantly worse than my Pixel 3. It's very grainy in the viewfinder (more than what I'm typically used to on a Pixel), and pictures look over processed, with all auto enhancements off. My skin tone was very ashy, more pale and my boyfriend's was way darker despite decent room lighting. I'm really hoping they fix this with the Day 1 update or at least by the end of the month. Camera wise, my Pixel 3 just seems to perform much better (which might make sense from an ML perspective).

Pixel 6 is slightly better I think. The only thing I don't like about the Pixel 6 (and Pro) is how the main camera sometimes oversaturates the colors too much or makes it look to vibrant. It's mainly noticeable on daytime video in certain scenarios, but also on pictures sometimes. The sky and leaves on 1:05 for instance. Hopefully Google can balance that out a bit more.

Great video. I have the Pixel 5(not 5a)and the trade in makes the pixel 6 $220. After seeing those camera differences.. very little difference. If I was going straight by the camera I'd probably not upgrade.

I found if you compare facial pics the 5a stands out with a more realistic capture. The 6 tends to make faces take on a more reddish hue which comes off as plastic looking, especially in portrait mode. Even with scenery at dusk there is a noticeable red shift with the 6 compared to the 5a. With no real difference in cameras I'm actually sending my 6 back for a second 5a.

Using the Pixel 6 right now and I still have my pixel 5a. I'm thinking of sending my pixel 6 back. Battery life is terrible and I've turned off just about everything that could drain it. Even setup my pixel 6 to stay on 4G LTE and it still drains fast. Camera gets hot whenever I start to take pics, so that's no good. I think Google didn't understand and test how much the Tensor chip consumes battery life thoroughly. The first security update didn't really do anything. I was hoping it would help with the battery just a little bit but it didn't.

The differences are minimal, but I think there is a crucial difference between the videos that is being overlooked my many. The biggest problem of filming with my Pixel 3XL has always been the grain within the video. The Pixel 6 reduces that grain (with dimensioning results as the light source decreases). While it isn't as great a jump as I'd hoped, it is nice to see there is a definite improvement over the past models. It's understandable why they would struggle in low light because low light = less data, but Apples camera's illustrate how they should be able to apply a different process to improve it. I wonder whether Google actually uses a different approach in low light or if it's just the same process, magnified (which seems like a bad approach).

It looks like they fixed the jello effect that happens in the background that has been around for a while. At least in this example. Where if you move around, the background moves also (near you). You can notice at around 4:53 the table moves around a bit in the background with the 5a when you move, but it's fine on the Pixel 6.

Are you able to take multiple pictures quicker on the 6? Is the delay between shots shorter now? Is the performance really better with Tensor? Are loadings quicker than before? What about the selfie camera? Does it compare to Apple (who seems to me that they have the better one, especially videowise)? How are the speakers? Would you say they're twice as loud on the 6? I think the difference between Pixel 6 and Pixel 5a in other areas still justify its price difference, such as the larger screen size, more premium design and most importantly, its new chips. I don't think it is worthy of upgrade from Pixel 5, but it is still one of the best phone at its price. I do hope the camera to improve in the future, and I personally believe those could be achieved with more reliable and consistent imaging processing model.

The sky on the 5a (video) never looks blue. It's the same with all the A series based on what I can see. Other than that it's pretty comparable but they are obviously boosting brightness on the 6. At least that's what I can tell from your videos. The 5a was just on sale for $400 and the 6 won't ever reach that so it's $150 decision at the end of the day.

IMO pixel 6 for sure have upgraded the video quality but not the photos. P5a still better in potrait mode. It's color is more punchy..still like a pixel photos & edge detection is better. I don't know P6 somehow lose it this time. In daylight P6 photos looks so plain in colors & not eye catching but I admit night photos in P6 is a little bit better.

The thing is camera in P6 will very much improve over time with tensor. Whatever tricks Google might have store for Pixel 7 & 8 will definitely reach Pixel 6 not the older models. Just like the exceptional dual exposure Live HDR and video stabilisation modes aren't found in models till Pixel 3. With Google what we get is very good but over the time it will become excellent. When I first bought Pixel 1 XL the camera was very good for 2016. After 2 years when they introduced night sight and other updates that phone got a new lease of life and the camera quality was excellent. I used it till last year and it gave my Note 10+ a run for its money. So I'm going back to Pixel line with P6 pro 512gb and I think it'll serve me for another 4 years.
