pixel 6a is close to p8 in daytime shots , but p8 shows it's new software and camera sensor magic in low-light and indoor shots.

There's not much difference. I think it's because the Pixel 6a has an older camera sensor, that had been optimized for 3-4 years, and is constantly getting better. The Pixel 8 has a bigger sensor, but not fully optimized yet, but it will get updates for longer.
