Both phones have fantastic cameras. Photo wise people will see what they want to see and favour whatever phone they favour as there is so little between them. Video wise I would give it to the Samsung in low light as it was less noisy to me but in daylight I think the Pixel has the better dynamic range but the colours looked a little washed out next to the Samsung's, but I appreciate that to some that would make the colours more natural I guess?. Zoom wise they have two of the best zoom systems ever to be fitted to a phone and they score points off each other here and I have to call this category a tie. Where there is no tie is in price. The Samsung is worth it's price but the Pixel 7 Pro is incredible value for money (The base Pixel 7 is arguably even more of a steal). I just wished the Pixel 7 Pro came with more than 256Gb in the UK where I live. That is the deal breaker for me. I will wait for the S23 Ultra to hopefully give me all I need in a phone. It won't come cheap though for sure unlike the amazing Pixels.

Hello, thank you for that video. But i have a question. At 3:30 aren´t the pics switched? The pic at the right side looks like a Pixel picture so much. Never seen HDR on my S22 Ultra in that way.

Thanks for going out on such a rainy night to do your comparison, Nick! Worth it though, to show the capabilities of these two devices. Not a lot to choose between them in fact - they both do a good job; IMHO the Pixel maybe just edges it, particularly in dynamic range, but it's marginal.

I am considering, as you did with your iPhone , to sell my iPhone 13 Pro Max in order to but the Google pixel 7 pro. My question to you is what about the display itself ? I am asking you this because all the internet is talking about it. the display is supposed to drain the battery a lot more quicker when high brightness mode is enabled , in other words when the phone reaches its peak brightness of 1500 nits a suddenly drop of battery can be noticed .Did you make this experience as well ? Did your battery drained a lot more quicker when you were outside ? Do you think that the pixel has a display problem ? This is the only thing that keeps my away of ordering the pixel and I would be grateful to hear about your experience.

Can't go wrong with either of them. They both are good in different situations. The Pixel 7 is still pretty new and surely will improve with updates. Samsung has the transition between lenses while recording video nailed. I'm keeping my S22 Ultra for now.

I think both are amazing but the Pixel is better in most cases. There are a few that the S22 ultra were better but I'd have to say the Pixel is the winner. Great video!

The pixel is great but it's over processing the photos most of the time. The Samsung looks more natural overall, and the color seems closer to reality on the S22. Both cameras are great though.

One thing nobody seems to address in these videos. The shutter lag. If that's present on the s22u like it was on the s21u, I really don't know how people manage taking pics with it. Especially moving subjects, like kids.

A lot of these photos are at least to me eyes labeled incorrectly. Photos that are clearly from the pixel address label Galaxy and vice versa. So many pics can get people confused when making videos though

I'm quite surprised, it seems the samsung actually beat the pixel in about 60% of the shots as far as i'm concerned. The pixel 7pro adds this magenta tint to the pictures

I was very upset that how can a big company like Google sell me a phone for $1000 and its not even tested properly. The first thing it did was to heat up. I thought it might be a security patch thing. So I installed the latest software updates but warming up of the screen continued. The camera module heats up when you try to take a macro. And the video automatically stopped recording after a few mins when I had about 100 GBs free in the phone. There is absolutely no comparison of screens between samsung phones or iPhone and Pixel 7 Pro. Sub-par hardware with buggy software. I am thinking bugs are left there intentionally so that Pixel loyalists could find those out and the company which listens to its customers will fix those in future releases. Absolutely no need to buy a piece of costly Tech which was not properly tested.

Google has this obssesion with software magic. Only if they added multiple lenses for different optical zoom levels like Samsung does. Between all the lenses, super-res software tech would achieve class leading zoom quality. At the time of the Pixel 3 series release their software magic was amazing. Nowadays however it is looking really overprocessed compared with the natural zoom quality of sheer physics.

Pixel has reclaimed the best point and use device spot in my opinion, but the ultra can just flat out overpower it even in those cases sometime, but best shot for best shot nothing can touch the ultra, another clean sweep, to know you have a device that can't be matched is gratifying but to know you have one that can exceed personal expectation is most important, that can't be disputed.

Most cameras are great in daylight so they were comparable, some nitpicking and personal preferences will force you one way or other, but both do a solid job. At night, like my S22U, the Samsung is meh, pretty disappointing. It is very noisy, flaring (cinema) and the 10X is atrocious in video and photos. I think based on these, that the Pixel 7 Pro wins comfortably. I also expect the gap to increase as Google sends out camera updates. In particular, 2X zoom, softness at edges, sometimes saturation dialled too high, and a few other stuff. Samsung needs a lot of work, that 10X zoom unusable in low light or darker, makes it less useful than I find it already.

Pixel still gives that contrasty, sometimes dirty greyish look to its photos. Also cold color tone is presented in some photos. So I don't think that Pixel 7 Pro killed S22 Ultra in terms of photo quality. And Galaxy S22 Ultra is still a better device overall.

pixel has inferior hardware but best color science, the 40mp selfie cam on s22 ultra has no competition , but i like the dynamic range and color science of back cameras of pixel 7 pro. Its looks amazing.
