I admit I didn't finish the video, as I am an Android vet upgrading from a previous Pixel. I'm glad you mentioned the animation-speed settings. Originally, IIRC, I think I rather stumbled upon this option, and I have no idea how at this point. Regardless, it really does make a difference imo, among others.

Just set up my new Pixel 8 256GB 5 days ago. Stumbled onto this (well, KZbin algorithms knew I was at least curious about the Pixel 8), and this is like walking into a dark building and turning on the light! OMG. Gonna try most of this! ----> Edit: Came back a few days later and went through the whole video setting up my P8. Cool to have the battery %, was wanting that ALWAYS! Set my video to 4K, finally got my assistant changed from Gemini (it's a mistake right now, maybe later) to Google Assistant, had to go to Play Store and install Google Assistant, then was given the choice of changing from Gemini to GA, what a relief, that was driving me nuts. GA is WAY better right now, the consensus at a long reddit thread I perused the other day. Neat video here, SUBSCRIBED!

As a new 8 pro user - thank you! Another thing that i stumbled in while doing all this is you can set the active area for gesture detection. I bought a case for the phone, and it's quite bulky over the edges of the screen, so after several hours it's becoming actually painful to try the go back gesture, at your finger always catches on the case. But in the system - navigation method - gestures cog you can actually use the sliders to make the active area for the gestures a bit wider

Went from the s20fe to the Pixel 8 pro recently. Its fantastic, dont get me wrong, just feel like somethings are missing in the OS. Like for example, in the S20FE I could select different apps at a time in the app drawer to either uninstall them or move them to the home pages at the same time or even in the home page, to organize them, I cpuld just move the whole home page to the left or to the right. Think Samsung takes their time with OS updates because they try to improve some "Quality of Life" fearures other brands don't do.

After changing animation speed to 0.5x, how can I save these settings when exiting developers mode? When I close developers mode and restart the phone animation speed goes back to 1x.

Does animation scale stays after turning off developer mode? My banking app doesn’t allow dev mode

This is a great question, and I do apologize because I don't want to be the guinea pig and try it (don't fix what's not broken). Did you end up trying it? My guess is that it would keep the animation settings as, I think, you're simply enabling the menu, not all of the functions. I say this because is that so many options in that menu are core to the devices operation and would hobble it if they were actually disabled.

@@daviddjpearl I tried it for force darkmode and no it doesn’t stay after you turn off dev mode. So it’s pretty much useless for me since I’m not gonna go turn it on/off when I use banking apps

Honestly, first thing to do is package it back up and send it back. Why did nobody say how hot the phone runs even when just browsing the web? Never had a pixel phone before but man my OnePlus 7 Pro is so much cooler when running even demanding tasks. I took a photo of my dog, hit one enhance feature and the phone got super warm. Really disappointed.

I don't know why the battery percentage is off by default. The full resolution doesn't make any noticeable difference. Funny coincidence. When he turned that feature on his battery percentage was 34%. Mine was exactly the same at the moment I watched that part.

How do you turn the dam phone on? Your tutorial is way too technical for us older folks who are not technical, I'm over 70 years old and you are talking too fast and way to technical. You need to explain the terms and be exact about button location. This video is just too advanced and technical for me. You did nothing but confuse me with this tutorial.

The buttons are reversed on this phone from all the other previous ones I've had. There are 3 buttons on the right hand edge of the phone. The top one is the owner button. Hold it down and that's how you power it on.
