Love the Pixel 8 pro. Never touching an Iphone again. This phone is so much smarter and easier to use and understand, love all the AI quirks and I actually like typing messages on it while iphones were always a pain. Vanilla android is great and the bay blue is beautiful. The free watch I got with it is sweet as well.

Appreciate the review. I purchase the pixel pro for myself I've noticed no one is really speaking about how good this phone is. Allt hey want to talk about is Ai stuff. The screen on the phone is amazing, the contrast and dynamic is too of the line. Maybe even better than Samsung.

Not really. Apple and Samsung have been using AI on device for years too. Google has some leading features like sound removal and has a larger data pool to train it's languave model.

So I have two thoughts on the thermometer. First, as a repair technician I can see many uses for the added feature. Of course precise measurements I would use my laser thermometer but if that wasn't handy, the phones thermometer would be nice. In some ways it's like the flashlight option on the phone, I use it more than I should. Same thing for people that tow and just want to take a rough estimate of wheel bearing temps. When it comes to why Google added it, I sort of think they are using it as just another tool to build their AI database. The reason I think this is that it asks you for the item being measured. Just a thought

The Pixel 8 Pro is a piece of jewellery. A lot of the AI-Stuff is really still beta or not there, but the phone is so buttery smooth and the pics are stellar.

Agreed!! Been using mine for a week and cameras are even better than expected. So much flexibility. Feels almost like carrying a mirrorless camera with a set of lenses in your pocket

I bought Pro 8 mainly for its AI functions, especially the Magic Editor. But now it refuses to remove Tattoos on images, claiming that would be in violation against Google's GenAI guidelines. Anyone having the same Problems?

What do you mean the fingerprint is not as secured as you would like. It's a level 3 secured authentication as the rest. I have heard you say that before too.

Apple isn't offering anything innovative or compelling at this time. If they ever do, revisit them. For now, stick with the Pixel devices.

ngl, the reading article out loud has been a thing on edge android for two years(yes it can translate as well). I dont think that's A.I. or tensor doing heavy lifting. tensor so far hasn't been doing any ai stuff that good enough to sacrifice battery life and performance. The video enhancefeature(that works on cloud) or any ai image edits can be done on non google phones with google one subscription. so i dont see any use/ hype of tensor being good for ai

This is more of an upgrade than the iPhone this year..I upgraded my pixel 7 pro for the speakers and the flat screen and with the AI features coming soon, it was a no brainer

how? the pixel went flat screen instead of curved and added a useless temp sensor and didn't upgrade the finger print sensor. iPhone changed to titanium, refreshed the shape, went to 24MP default shots, Finally went USB C but then went with 10Gbps instead of the slower speeds Android uses. Even the S23 Ultra doesn't do 10Gbps at $1200+ . I love my pixel but you don't have to act like iPhone isn't good to "validate" your phone choice. I have the 15 pro and Pixel 8 Pro. The iPhone IS better. at everything. but, I don't care. I still Love my pixel.

The first thing I noticed when I got my Pixel 8 Pro is that the display is pretty loud when putting my finger on it. It sound similar to tipping on plastic bottle. I did not had that with my old OnePlus. I wonder why this is not a topic in any review.

Yes you can. Set dual SIM to ask every time and then you can remember which SIM to use for each contact the first time you call them

I've had Google pixel 8 Pro now for going on 2 weeks tomorrow and it is literally the best phone I've ever had in my life. Hands down. screen causes eye strain - appears to be weirdly slightly out of focus -- same problem with the pixel 5, 6, and 7. Before that, google used P-OLED for the pixel 4 xl, and AMOLED for pixel 3 and 2. AMOLEDS are superior in clarity and eye comfort. Next to the Galaxy s23 and pixel 8 looks bad. Shame that samsung's cameras are so far behind.

I literally sent my Pixel 8 back, because I hate the new Ultra-HDR effect, it makes images look like absolute overexposed shit, I just don't get it. The new HDR effect also makes the screen glitch and change brightness back and forth when browsing through apps like Instagram. Also, the fingerprint reader is very bad. Overall, the phones just feels like a work in progress. I definitely didn't feel like I was getting my money's worth.

This is normal. It's the image stabilizer.

That is very normal because all cameras with optical image stabilization have moving parts that would move and make a sound if you shake it.

I used the temperature sensor on my wifes hot drink last night to prove it wont burn her. yeah. its good to have. also works well on bath water too so you don't get it too hot. how about wondering how hot the concrete is for your puppy. there's many reasons, you are just not open minded enough to handle it.

all of these examnples are easily known using your hand lol. heat radiates, you will sense before opening the app and putting close enough for your hand to sense the heat. its a useless gimmick unless it workes on people accurately

Google is moving towards turning mobile phone into intelligent mobile. When Tensor chip becomes powerful enough, Google may be able to integrate a very intelligent AI assistant into the mobile. Imagine being able to talk to your mobile.

This is kind of what I am banking on. Alexa, Bixby, and Siri are just... Not as good as I want, and Google assistant is far beyond them in my opinion. With this new AI tech, I am REALLY hoping they beat the competition to the punch with the BEST assistant on the market. If I can basically talk to my phone and get a seriously next level experience with voice controls, I will be elated. I already prefer the smoothness and intuitiveness of the Pixel UI over Samsung and Apple. Especially if you already use Google apps primarily.

The temperature measuring device now provided by Pixel Pro 8 in my opinion is a ridiculous new phone iteration! Is it there simply to up the price! Is there any dialogue whatsoever between Google and Google Customers other than money exchange!!! I am a Google customer. ​@@ace0341I have the 7 pro and it doesn't get hot at all. Mind you, I live in a hot country with temperatures over 100 degrees and haven't had the first issue. Does it get warm easily(used to before A14) but nothing drastic.

I have the Pixel 6 and summer time outside the phone would throttle without me doing any video recording and the refresh rate would go down to 60 but I only got the device is too hot notification twice in the 2 years I've owned it. I haven't gotten a chance to test it with Android 14 in the warm weather since I got the update in October and the weather has gotten cool but yeah most people have said that Android 14 helps with performance and thermals alot.

@@ace0341 never had any issues with my 7 pro with A13 but A14 is truly a game changer. Runs smoother(if that was possible), cooler, better and faster. So far, pixel has been the most pleasant, reliable and best smartphone experience I have ever had by a mile. Mind you, I've been using IPhones and Samsung since the beginning and this is the first pixel I have tried.

Why is nobody talking about how terrible the quick settings and quick tiles are on the pixel? As someone who switched from Samsung this was a real deal breaker for me. I use dual SIM one for personal and one for my business phone and the inability to switch Sims in the quick settings is ridiculous. Google really dropped the ball on the quick tiles, they need to sort these out badly.

I love Pixel 8 Pro. The most useful and smartest phone. I still use an iPhone 12 pro daily, and I see no reason to upgrade because Apple offers nothing innovative to warrant an upgrade. If you believe the pixel trash then it's becomes obvious to actual pixel users that you have never really used one.
