Pixel 9 Pro XL Review - Don't be fooled by gimmicks... 😑 (With Sound Test)

Correction regarding Video Boost @ 04:49: I said in this video that Video Boost only supports 1080p. I was wrong. I came to that conclusion because no matter what resolution I was shooting with Video Boost, I could only save 1080p versions of it. Here's how it actually works. If 4K video boost is chosen, it shoots at both 4K and 1080p, but you will only be able to access the 1080p version of the video on your phone. A raw 4K version of the video is held as backup until it can be uploaded to Google servers for processing. The processed video is in 4K. When shot in 8K, it will still shoot a 1080p base video like before, and only the 1080p version is accessible, but the 4K backup will be upscaled to 8K on Google's Servers. All processed video boost footage can only be downloaded straight from Google's servers, and not accessible from the Pictures App. The base 1080p version is there for people who wants the footage urgently, because processing takes a loooong time.

Actually, when the processing is ready (you will get a notification that you can click on), the file will automatically be accessible in the Google Photos app on your phone! First click to open the video and then their will be thumbnails for both the 1080p preview and the 4K/8K boosted version (at least that is how it works on the 8 Pro). Downloading to a computer can be easily done from Google Photos in any webbrowser.

@@BasMeijer Actually, I tried saving that processed version directly from phone, making sure to click on the right thumbnail, and it still was the unprocessed raw footage. Had to google how to export it properly and found others who faced the same problem. I could only do it by sharing a link to myself, then downloading processed version from there.

5:15 That's incorrect. Video Boost shoots 2 videos. An on-device video that's 1080p and a lightly processed video that's 4k. That 4k video is the one that is uploaded to the cloud for processing.

Yep, you're absolutely RIGHT, because it IS an inferior phone. Only things that the Pixel line is "the best" at are the length of time that the phones will be supported and updated by Google, and it can be argued that the Pixel line offers the best "pure stock Android", with the least amount of "bloatware". Internals are slower, and the base storage option being 128GB is ridiculous for the storage hungry half-baked A.I. features to be freely used. Camera's as well are demonstrably NOT "the best" of the crop of new phone options.

You can shoot at 4k with Videoboost on. The preview video, while the videoboosted version is being processed in the cloud, is downgraded to 1080p. So, that part of your video is incorrect. Furthermore, the 4k video can then be videoboosted to 8k.

@@aaronloudnwireless yeah, it is odd that the main video is uploaded to the cloud and the device only keeps a downgraded preview version. Also, I am unsure, but the 8k videoboost might actually shoot at 8k as well, however videoboost needs to be enabled to shoot at 8k. So, it might not be 4k upscaled to 8k when 8k is selected. That part of my earlier comment may be incorrect.

I like your video! I have a proposal, on how to get pixels with continuous color resolution. It is possible to divide each respective 3 pixels into four color components (sub pixels), for example: The first pixel has the order RGBR, the second has GBRG, and the third has BRGB, and so on. That way, the pixels can have two colors at the same time!

That's due to auto mode shutter speed and the algorithms trying to brighten the footage too much and using a slower shutter speed than the selected frame rate. To remedy that you can shoot in manual and adjust the shutter speed accordingly. So 24fps would shoot at 24fps or higher and so on.

He does much better job woth TWS. While iPhone has always had an edge in video, the gap is narrowing. Also, I dont do much video, but i have never had it as destabilized as that. Pixels have ruled on the camera front for quite some time, objectively. Also, while I dont agree with everything in this video, it is real important to realize reviewers are offering their objective opinion, it is onlt theor opinion. Biases and preferences are always in play.

every pixel is mediicore to me... and I've had a bunch of them. I went from the pixel 6 to the pixel 8a (kind of regret this) but I def won't spend more than $400 on a pixel anymore. Anything more than $400 and I'll buy a OnePlus. You get much better value for your money and I don't find my 8a screen to be bright at all.
