great and less expensive way to do this. Buying mounting plates can really add up when smart receiver boxes start to add up quickly.

Good video. Ive been using the 30mm ammo can. Your box is better, easy access to all fittings. Recommend a drop of hot glue when attaching the fittings.

Thank you so much for this insight. This is my first year with props, and I was using HF 30cal ammo boxes.(not as roomy) but this is a much better solution..... I want a spinner for next year but I have been trying to figure out how to provide the additional power. This is an awesome build that provides a lot of flexibility due to the power distribution board and the xconnect power only wires. Thank you!!!!!

@@bergmannlights5149so the power distribution board is only if you have something that requires power instead of running a separate extension cord? I’m totally new at this, so this really helped.

Been to 4 different dollar stores and nobody sells a cutting board like these. Never thought that would be the hard part to source 😂. I bought a piece of acrylic from HD to try instead.
@bergmannlights5149 Жыл бұрын
Try Walmart as well. I would be careful with acrylic, it is brittle.

I know this is an older thread but, I went to 3 Dollar Tree stores today (just saw this video yesterday) and found these boards (same" handhole" as can be seen at 23:20 in the video) at 2 of them. Picked up 6 of them. It's just hit or miss as to if or when they have them.

Do you mind if I ask you a question? I am getting in pixel lights a displays. I have a lot to learn but my question is have is with my old displays. I have 3’ words that spell out “HERE COMES SANTA” with two 4’ snowflakes. I spent a lot of time making it. I’m trying to salvage it some way. Do you know of any device out there like some sorta switch relay. That I could use to plug each unit into that would turn the lights just on and off in a way were “HERE” is flash’s on and everything else is off. Then it turn off and “comes” flashes on and “Santa” then turns on with the snow flakes. Lastly they all flash on at the same time. Then it repeats. I’m sorry if I’m not explaining that correctly. Thank you for any advice or help.

I guess what I am trying to find out if I can use the leds (non smart) to run a small sequence. Everything is off then “here” turns on and quickly off. Then “comes” turns on and off. The “Santa and the snowflakes” turn on and off. Lastly they all turn on “❄️HERE COMES SANTA❄️the same time and off and it sequence repeats. I worked really hard on this and have about 2000lights just in it. Ii just can’t come to start over on it just yet. I’m sorry if that was a dumb question. Thank you again for any help or advice.

Yes there are several products out there that can be used to control your lights. If you already have a pixel controller you can use Experience lights Pixels to Things products. Light-O-Rama also sells controllers. I have also seen guys make their own relay boxes. Kind of depends on what your vision is. I am not an expert on the AC control side. I suggest you join one of the Christmas light Facebook groups like Holiday lighting think tank.

How does the PS vent any heat outside the ammo box?
@bergmannlights514915 күн бұрын
I do not vent these boxes. Since I live in a northern climate and only use these at Christmas I do not vent them. If I had a warmer climate, I would install a bud vent on the boxes.

How much does a box cost to build? A pixie16 controller off light o rama is $380 already assembled so if this box costs $90 or more it’s not worth it
@bergmannlights51496 күн бұрын
The build receivers range from $20 to $30, the ammo box is about $10, and the power supply is $30. You do have misc parts so add another $10. So bottom line ~$70 to $80. Now one of the advantages of receiver boxes is you get the controller next to the prop and don’t have to worry about voltage drop for long cable runs.
