Also, this footage is entirely unedited (aside from the end slate), which means this is exactly how Pixel Tactics Online looks/feels like when you play it.

I'm a big Level99 Games fan but never really tried PT. I felt a bit lost in the video with a lot of things happening and no context. I was hoping for some explanations on the different effects and maybe how things have changed between this and the physical version. Maybe that just wasn't the purpose of the video though! I'd love to see something like that in the future.

The game will be free upon release. It will indeed have Micro Transactions. The way it works is that there will be a sizeable single-player campaign divided into "Worlds." Each of these worlds allows you to enter and fight a Gauntlet of AI decks (each with varied themes and Leaders). Defeating these single-player modes will allow you to Unlock cards. This means that the cards will be 100% guaranteed and we will not have "packs." Once the app launches, we'll be supporting it with new Worlds, essentially providing "boosters" of content. Thus, it is a bit more like an LCG, than a CCG. Finally, Worlds can be purchased with real money or in-game currency (which you gain by simply playing the game). I hope this helps! - Marco

Haven't seen this video in a long time, but the animation and the art quality is a really amazing transition from the card game. Makes the card game look bad in comparison! I wish these Level 99 Games (Like BattleCON Online) had a campaign mode with a story. I'd sink some serious time into it that way.

I'd love to see a strategic walkthrough video. It would be like this, but with more explanation of why you're doing certain things and what you're looking out for from your opponent. I've played Pixel Tactics a couple of times, but it's been a while. I played on game of PTO and got destroyed by the AI. Also, can any card be used as a leader in PTO? The coolest feature of Pixel Tactics was that any card could be a hero and you basically had to pick a new one each time you played. It was also awesome that there were so many different powerful abilities to wield from game to game.

The leaders/heros are still there, for every Hero (non-common) there is a leader, however it is constructed, as far as i am aware there will be a normal mode to play with. (Which you choose your leader at the start of the game.) But for constructed you choose a leader, from all the Leaders (Once again there is a leader for every hero)

with 3 actions per turn, the game seemed to end a lot faster than normal PT. was this the big reason for adding the third action? For quicker games?

I think quicker games were definitely part of it. The "main reason" behind this was to help balance out Orders. Orders were a bit too strong in the testing Meta because they would essentially generate a lot of value for one action. With only 2 actions, every action you took was VERY precious, meaning that Orders (the easiest means to generate value) became the go-to for most decks. This meant that other actions, such as attacking, moving, clearing corpses, etc. were almost never done. Also, this meant that cards were almost always placed into decks SOLELY for their Order effect. So, to hopefully bring orders in line, we added Orbs, which gave Orders a secondary resource to worry about. Also, we decided to increase the number of actions so that players wouldn't feel too pressured to generate a lot of value with every action. More actions meant that you could afford to "waste" an action or two attacking enemy heroes (which was usually 100% inferior to simply casting some Order that did AoE damage).

+TheMechanicritic - Is this going to cause changes to future editions of the physical game at all, or is all this (orbs, extra actions) just for the online game? I see there is definitely more of an emphasis on building decks in the online game, but PTDX has rules for deckbuilding as well.

It's not an in-browser game, but there will be a mobile version. Cards from IRL will be present (but not all) and some of them have been changed to make the online play easier. - Marco

Nice game, though I'm just not a fan of the delayed deaths thing. To me, it feels way more satisfying when you smash something hard and that thing perishes, rather than nuking something and.... ok, let's see.. hmm... ah yes, here you go, it's dead, the opponent didn't do anything about it. I totally understand that this is supposed to increase the depth in the strategic department, but it sacrifices that one factor of satisfaction from it. So it's a personal nitpick, I doubt many people would have an issue in such bizarre details.

3 action per turn ? that a lot but ok i understand why aaand you can have multiple copy if one card in the board ... that not very good the major thing in pixel tactics is the choice you need to choose wisely where you place your hero because you cannot have another for other Space and you can spam the same hero in same Space so ... i think i wait the official launch but ... idk wait actually clear corps is only for one space ? that a thing now ? well why ? if you add more trap it can be dificulte with orbe systeme don't it ? you need to creat all trap with same cost or you spend orbe on reveal (so if you cannot pay it cannot reveal ) this second option is really cool for mind game i think

Yes you can have duplicates of the same Hero on the board at the same time. As far as I know, clear corpse has always been just one space. Various effects allow you to clear lots of corpses, but the default action has been clear 1 corpse since I could remember! :D I think traps will all kinda have the same power level/orb cost to avoid this. - Marco

Same hero on the board is not a god idea cause some hero do the same thing but better so in physical you need to deal with "not perfect like the other hero but ok anyway" Oh yeah sorry i forgot... i play hebzibah most of the time on construct game Argh but equalize orbe value mean all trap need to have same power it limit diversity because you're lock in this little range of power

Well, this is a constructed game anyway. So, even if there were no duplicates, you'd still be able to make your deck so you'd never have to deal with "not perfect." And not exactly. Equal orb values don't mean cards have to be of the same power level. Remember that cards are more than just their singular uses. A card can have a REALLY strong 1 Orb Order, but be a 0/1 that does nothing. Heck, some cards have the same Order, but have different orb costs! :P - Marco

Level 99 Games if you can't place same copy on the board you have to deal with it yeah I understand but on construct format you add card for one job generally so other effect is not really important

That's pretty much how it goes, I guess. but remember that PTO is a game with a deck. While cards in your deck will be picked for a job, you won't always have access to it and you'll have to sometimes use a good Order Hero to body block instead, for example.
