pro tip for the LTE pixel watches: if you're on google fi, google doesn't charge you an additional fee for having your pixel watch as an additional line (most carriers charge an extra $5-10 a month for adding a watch line). been doing this since the pixel watch 1, so consider switching to google fi if you can! loving my 45mm pixel watch 3 personally!

The real kicker is that Google, like most every smartwatch these days, wants to use a proprietary band interface rather than just the previous industry standard. It wouldn't be a problem if you could shove any band you wanted on there.
@wordlvАй бұрын
Don't buy it😂
@AliceHawkeАй бұрын
On the topic of watch bands, for me, the price is the issue. I've been rocking my PW2 for a year now, and while I did buy five cheap third-party bands to mix up the styling, ultimately, I've ended up just wearing the original active band that came with the watch for the majority of my year of use, which isn't even a colour I like (I opted for a gold pixel watch, but the gray/green band that comes with it is just so... dull). Why? The cheap bands didn't attach properly - some of them would rattle in the quick-release housing whenever the watch vibrated, others would refuse to lock in to the quick-release housing, and they irritated my skin and kept sliding around on my wrist. The active band that came with the watch though, it doesn't irritate my skin, it doesn't slip around, and it locks in place firmly in the quick release mechanism. A good experience (aesthetics aside) which would tempt me to buy an official band that's more to my liking... only they *start* at £49 and go all the way up to £209! For *one* watch band! 🥴 Oh but don't worry, the most expensive option is only £8.71 a month over 24 months with financing? Is this the reality we live in now, two year finance plans on a single watch strap???? Google's watch band offerings rather limited in styles and colourways, but there are a few which I wouldn't mind having, and I like the idea of having a variety of bands for different occasions, since they're so easy to swap. But if I wanted to buy the four bands that most appeal to me, that would set me back a rather eye-watering £456. For the Americans here, that's five bucks away from being six hundred dollars at time of writing. I'm sorry, but hard pass.

This is a great summation of why I had such mixed feelings about the Google Store trip in this video. $90 for a watchband! Ugh!

Summary: The Pixel Watch 3 has a larger display and a more refined design. It offers improved health and fitness features through the Fitbit app. Additionally, there are new smartwatch features like the recorder app. The Pixel Watch 3 offers a range of features, including sleep tracking, voice calling, and integration with Google services. Despite some limitations, such as battery life and speaker quality, the watch is recommended for both tech enthusiasts and non-tech users. The Pixel Watch 3’s vertical integration with Google services is seen as a positive development, providing a more seamless user experience. A review of the Pixel Watch 3 was conducted after six weeks of use, with the watch paired to a Pixel 9 Pro. The review is independent and not influenced by Google. Awesome Video Though!

Thank you for the review Michael - spot on as usual! I got the Pixel Watch 3 (Hazel) last Sunday, and after the first evening of wearing it, I wanted to sell it off (due to the 'large' culture shock of moving from an Apple Watch Ultra) and immediately put it on an online sale app, thinking that I will go back to a Watch Ultra 2 in black. Next day morning, I went for a walk and that changed the whole dimension - the simplicity of the interface, the glanceability and more importantly the real-time metrics; be it the steps taken, heart rate etc., it was a whole new experience. Got back home, deleted the sale advt., and now close to one week, I am not missing my Apple Watch. I do prefer the chunky feel of the Watch Ultra, but the 45mm Pixel is a reasonable good size (I hope Google provide an Ultra iteration next year).

This downgrade in battery from the Sense 2 to the PW is the main thing stopping me from buying it, but nevertheless I still enjoy watching your videos. Most of these watches seem to miss the most important feature; Easily display the time in day or night. Pebble got this right, and these days Garmin and Xiaomi, get it right these days with TFT displays. The brighter environment, the more visible the display is. Why do watch manufacturers try and out-shine the Sun? It's an exercise in futility. Pebble, Garmin, and Xiaomi have watches that last for days with always on displays because the display doesn't fight the sun to keep visible using large amounts of power to display. I am using a Garmin right now, and I don't have to tap the screen, or retreat into a shadow to see the time, or a message, it is there and quite visible. Sure, the colours are not supersaturated like OLED displays, but reduced charging, and better visibility is much more of a benefit.

Seeing what happened to smartwatches makes me glad that (for now at least) smartphones are still allowed to skin and tinker with their versions of Android on their own hardware. There was a time where Android enthusiasts kept calling for the death of skins and for everything to run stock Android, but there really is strength in diversity. While not a direct comparison, I can't help but feel WearOS's previous outing was a dark mirror to what could've happened to smartphones too.

As a regular Apple Watch user, I am sad to see the “Wild West” of android watches sunset. But I guess Apple’s wearable strategy has been more successful, so it makes sense 😕 Regarding the bands: I may be in the minority here, but I actually do enjoy using the silicone standard band that came with my first Apple Watch Series 2 all those years ago (I am on a Series 9 now). I don’t enjoy having a metal band, except for special occasions. And cloth bands absorb too much of my sweat. Leather bands are nice, but they also do not handle my daily wear and tear as well as the silicone does. That said, wear what you prefer when and where you prefer; they give us customizability for a reason 🙂

I'm fortunate to have tried both Samsung's Watch7 (44mm) and Google's Pixel Watch 3 (45mm). There are certain aspects that I like on the Google side over Samsung's but there are more things I like on the Samsung side over Google. For starters, the hardware design. I don't like that curved glass top at all. And I think due to this, there is no tempered glass protector out there (except for maybe that one other that's godly expensive? Didn't check). I also don't like how the bands attach to the watch itself -- proprietary. Granted it makes for an interesting and smooth design. But if I can't use my own band with a watch and have to shell out extra $$$ for an adapter, then I cannot find myself using Google's watch for long. I ended up sticking to Samsung's Watch7 as my primary watch. Both are good timepieces. But I prefer Samsung's exterior design than Google's.
