I just want to clarify this because it bugs me that people spread this misconception: "Third party" does not mean "unlicensed." In a market, the "first party" is the owner of an intellectual property and often the producer/distributor of merchandise associated with said intellectual property. The "second party" is us, the consumers who buy those products. A "third party" is someone who is licensed to produce products owned by the first party. These unlicensed toys are often called "third party" because strictly speaking, they are a party producing product of an intellectual property that is not the first party who owns it or the second party consuming the intellectual property, however, the unlisenced part is not what makes them "third party." To use an example related to this video, the Revoltech Ninja Turtles are third party, since they're not made by Playmates but are still officially licensed. This figure, by a certain logic, could be called third party, but its unlicensed nature puts it just outside the proper definition, making it simply an unlicensed figure. You could call it a knock-off if you really wanted to, but to me, knock-off has always implied something that's trying to trick you into thinking its an official product or which steals actual toy design and engineering. Just wanted to clarify that.

ZimMan2 Thanks, that was very informative. Can the companies who owns the characters SUE the people who make these toys since they are unlicensed? I've seen a couple of these third party toys usually its made by Chinese people think there is one called CRAZY TOYS.

They absolutely could, but at this point, it would likely cause them a lot of trouble, since courts often expect companies to protect their IP consistently, and the precedent has been set for most of these companies ignoring unlicensed figures. Like, let's say I started a company called Mad Mike Mind Uppers or something like that and I made an unlicensed figure based off of Cosmos from Transformers. Hasbro could sue me, but because they didn't go after iGear when they made an unofficial Cosmos, they could get in trouble for not protecting their IP previously, so it often benefits these companies to either let it all slide or put the hammer down completely (like Harmony Gold) so as to avoid the trouble involved with not consistently protecting their IP. And that actually raises a good point about this figure, since previously, there haven't been any unlicensed Ninja Turtles figures, so it might turn out that Playmates is more litigious than Hasbro and will bring the hammer down on this figure which will inevitably put a damper on any future plans from First Gokin or any other companies who want to make unlicensed Ninja Turtles figures.

i see. Do these 3rd party toy companies have a base of operation? Cause i dont think they do. I think they just make the figure put their "company name" on it. But i dont think they have an office. I think they just make this 3rd party unlicensed figures in some warehouse and sell them online or find some local distributor. I dont think they can sue these 3rd party companies cause they are like music and movie cd pirates. The "company name" is just like a signature. They are not really a registered company am i right?

I can't really say for sure, since I've never dealt with any of these companies, even as a consumer, but I've always gotten the impression that they at least have enough connections to hire proper factories to produce their stuff, even in small production runs.

This is how Krang should've looked in TMNT: Out of The Shadows if you asked me. This would look great next to the Classic Turtles figures from Playmates. I think It'd really give off the vibe that Krang is an Alien Warlord with really advanced technology when compared to The four Turtles.

They confirmed with a member on the Technodrome Forums that they are currently working on designs for another TMNT character that "once you see it, you will shit bricks" lol. I'm betting on Shredder since they could do some really awesome diecast armor. On another note I got this guy in the mail today and the holes in the axes are not shapped correctly or big enough to fit the hand pegs on. Kinda a bummer but i will probably just display him without them.

OscarG787 no, if you've seen the 2015 toy fair video, there are new versions of the basic turtles from 2012 painted to look more like the 87 turtles. They also have the irises and pupils.

Ah I remember watching that video now. More paint apps then the first 2012 tmnt toy releases with pupils but my opinion is they should have had all those paint apps in the first place. Wonder how much will they charge now aside from the regular $8.99 price range.
