Absolutely goose bump inducing to hear this played properly for the first time since July 1985.It's the twelve string and bass that does it!! Just a shame the public wont get want they want with the co writer singing it!

I simply find it very sad to read all these comments. Both Andrew and Wayne had their place in history - but it is just that - ancient history - some thirty odd years later we should celebrate what they 'were' - not what they 'are'. Anyone can play whatever music they want live, no need to acquire any rights as far as I know. In this case, those guys even wrote the music so there is not even a moral problem with that. This version is not bad actually... A great song it is indeed.

There is no debate to have! The original version of the Sisters is obviously the only one that is worth it. On the other hand, between this version and what Andrew is currently producing on stage, there is also no debate. The Sisters are dead and Andrew kills them a bit more with each of his pitiful performances on stage. Thanks to Wayne for keeping the faith.

..........agree 1000 percent, if that's even mathematically possible..........I have been a Sisters follower since they were only a minor footnote, and honestly, I discarded them because the vast majority of their stuff was complete crap..........then BANG, Flood land, Vision Thing, etc..........somehow they found killer hooks, which matched perfectly to Andrew's voice (which definitely needs the perfect song), then, a nose dive...........live concerts are hopeless, poorly mixed, with all reason for being long gone.........also, have always felt that Sisters, particularly Andrew, had very bad pitch problems with about all of their songs..........slow Lucretia extended down, and you will be blown away..........same with Marian...............
@DepressedCapitalist5 жыл бұрын
Well said my friend. At this stage of the Sisters' live show, I have no doubt that Eldrtich wants to bury once a for all what greatness the sisters once had. That or he is a professional Cheat artist who takes pleasure in robbing people of their money when they pay to see that calamity called Meth experience! Oh well... The Sisters and all their greatness still live in our memories and records.

This isn't a "cover" - Wayne Hussey is credited along Andrew Eldritch on the original album. I guess he wrote the music and received the rights to lyrics after his "divorce" with The Sisters of Mercy. BTW original music for Marian was the one later used for Black Planet.

Yep, they're still exceptionally good live, and well followed, despite the bad sound on this video. So good, that after attending this gig (and others in the UK), I decided to spend my cash and holidays following them around Europe in November of the same year. Not many bands warrant that. No regrets and I can't wait to see 'em again, money and time well spent.
@jeanproctor36636 жыл бұрын
I actually really like this version, but then I like both Evie and Wayne's voices. I also like The Sisters version too. To me, both sets of vocals add something to the track that the others don't. And I'm not even sitting on the fence or playing Devil's advocate because I like both The Mission and The Sisters Of Mercy, just like I like Duran Duran and Cinderella. I think what I'm trying to say is that everyone has their own opinion. There's no point in calling someone else a dick-head or bell end because they don't agree with someone else's opinion - it's part of what makes us human, our differences and yes, our similarities. Some people might agree with my view, some might not, but it's all a part of what makes us who we are and what we are. Folk'll have to just agree to disagree. :)

I like this, but IMO the original has more emotion to it - it is, after all, a love song and the lyricist singing the original will tend to have more invested in their vocal. By the way, Craig's got a good voice. His solo album ("Demon King") is very good, but his vocals are a bit buried in the mix.
