maaan i tried the mall mod turns out the map bugs out sometimes and just deletes all the zombies in the main mall... so my mates and i loaded up a world with me saying hardest challenge even then it turned into the easiest start ever... we kept the world tho cause we found our 2 favorite vehicles parked just out the back ... we have ever increasing hordes tho so it will get "better"

Oh oh oh! You need a mod that fixes this. It’s something about fixing the zombie culling: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/comments/3115293671 This will fix the issue. I think you have to copy and paste some files manually but it is worth it!

Oh yeah, there is some mod that fixes zombie culling and spawning for MP. Without it, it was impossible to play as everything would just despawn. It was a few months ago when we actually recorded this session and I forgot about it until just now. It took some testing, but we eventually got it to work.
