High pass is not an old forgotten technique we used it a lot to skin enhancement in photography. It is one of the most used sharpen tools. Me personally use soft light as high pass blend mode instead of overlay. Great video!!! Many thanks

Adam, fantastic explainer and thank you to Mike for his scripting. I’ve continued to use photoshop just to do the high pass on many images.. your old techniques from the photoshop series you did are far from forgotten!! Loved the clarity on this video, it was easy to follow and keep focused on what you were doing.

Love it it is becoming more photoshop like with these scripts, now if there was a script that could fade a process/script change to finetune what one does and a way of using a script to paint a mask it would be awesome

Oh wow! Might this be used for Orion? I do love the real time. I wish that was more common so you can play with all the parameters. Thanks again Adam!
@AdamBlock

If you mean to blend a composite image (with the Orion Nebula being the subject)... then yes, with the right images you certainly can.

Wow there's so many different combinations that you could go for. I'm working on a LRGB image of NGC 2442 with some faint tidal tails that I haven't been able to bring out much. Probably a combination of mediocre processing skills & data quality. Anyway, towards the end I was looking for a tool like MLT to sharpen things up a bit. I might try this instead

Hello Adam, that is just brilliant! I have (last week I think) joined "Fundamentals" and am really enjoying working my way through it. Looking at this new ImageBlend script, is it something that could be used to rescreen your stars into a starless images (using the screen blend option), or would it be better just to use PixelMath to do the rescreen. Also, big thanks to Mike for this and his other scripts.

Thank you Adam for the great video! Can the script blend images of different image scale? It is when you do imaging the same object by two telescopes with different focal length? Thanks!
@AdamBlock
@AdamBlock 10 ай бұрын
The images need to be the same size/dimension regardless of scale internal to the images. This means you would pad the smaller image by the necessary amount. (presumably this is already accommplished through registration or mosaic by coodinates). Then, yes you can blend. But masks are applied to the base image...not the blend image. This will make it a little non-intuitive for many.

Good video, Adam. Two questions for clarification. First, what is the repository where the script is available? Second, you said you'll talk about it in your video series--will this be through Fundamentals or Horizons?

Hi Adam, thx alot for introducing this powerful script! One question: When you blend overlay_darker and overlay_lighter: Is the blend-mode 'Lighten" (as shown in the video) correct? Greetings from a Adam Block Studios member
@AdamBlock
@AdamBlock 10 ай бұрын
Yes, those images were created by using the darken/lighten mode on the original base image and the enhanced Overlay image. (Then I blended THOSE together with an opacity so I can get any degree of the effects I want.)
@beautyofthenightsky

I wanted to know if the BLEND-MODE which blend thoses two images together was correct to be 'lighten' in the blend-mode-parameter, as shown in the video. Sry for asking again.

I'm new at using Pixinsight and trying to use Image Blend, I have separated the stars from the nebula image. When adding the Nebula with out stars image to the base image it just shows a black preview, same with adding blend image the stars image. am I missing something? I check that all the settings on image blend are the same as the one on your video. Not sure how to proceed . tks
@AdamBlock

Could tool be used to blend two images of the same object, which was taken with two different Broadband filters with an OSC. Is it worth while? I have a set of data of M3 using a ZWO IRCut filter and a set with an Optolong L-Pro. Would it be worth while to try and blend these two images? Thank for a great script and great video
@AdamBlock
@AdamBlock 10 ай бұрын
Yes, this is exactly the usage. There is a person on FB that just successfully blended their NB data with OSC RGB data and it worked brilliantly.

I am also having trouble adding the script to my repository. I have added the link, saved, and then ran the update. The update showed new items, which I applied and then restarted PI. But the script does not appear under Utilities. I have screen shots if they will help. I consider myself competent in this area as I have added numerous items to my PI repository.

Would this be a decent replacement for screenstars?
@AdamBlock
@AdamBlock 10 ай бұрын
That is different. Screening a stars-only image is only one kind of blend. Screenstars also has a special consideration when blending star extracted images. So it is not a replacement for this one function.

Why would you end up having 2 shots of a comet? I never tried capturing one. Is it that the comet requires different exposure time than stars?
@AdamBlock
@AdamBlock 10 ай бұрын
No. The stars and background and the second image of the comet all come from the SAME image! You are able to split the data and process in two different routes. This is why I have instructional videos! :)

It is... in a limited way. You work with two images at a time. In addition, a mask is applied to the base image if required. Otherwise, yes.

Certainly with High Pass, to my untrained eye it does look the same as what Clarity could achieve in Adobe Camera Raw in about three seconds though.

@@Pawel-rv1ek I used to do some planetary and solar work. However, this is outside of the realm of PixInsight. So it is not high on my list right now. The rings in DSLR images is usually a lens issue (and hard to solve).
