OMG that hairband with the grips makes all the difference - I have thick straight hair that won't stay in any ponytail but with the grips, even with a thicker hairband, my ponytail is tight enough and stays put!! I don't have that long hair but my bun still looks amazing with that technique and I only needed three more grips to fixate it. Don't even see the hairband anymore. Thank you!!

This helped me SOO much with the top knot! I knew how to do it but I have long hair like you, and I never could get my pony tail high enough. I never thought about flipping my head over!

Basically, that "topknot" is the way I wear my hair around the house, to check the mail, make a quick trip to the store & it's also how I wear it when I wash my face before bed. I didn't realize I was being "fashionable," as I've done this for years. Only differences in my "topknot" is that I make it a bit looser with a bit of face-framing fringe & rather than such a tight, harsh knot, mine is a bit more "fluffy" & "messy." I prefer my way, for it's softer & more flattering to my face.

My mum always used to tie my hair like that... it works really well with bobbles, just hook one bobble over the other at the end!! and both bobbles end up next to eachother, making it look even nicer!

I love a high bun!!! One of the things that I use and I don't know if you have them in the UK, but the Goody Spirals for your hair are amazing for this. They cut down on the amount of bobby pins and they also hold it into place if you don't have a hair elastic :)

Great idea about using the grips/bobbie pins to wrap the band around the hair. I find using them the other way i get a lot of breakage resulting in the flyaways. Love these vids!!

When I had to do a chignon for ballet class, I used an elastic with two hooks at the end. They are easily found in drugstores and hold everything!

I totally agree about Elnette vs Tigi Hard head. I've never understood the fuss over elnette, it smells really musty and old, and just doesn't really give a hold in my opinion. The tigi hair spray on the other hand is amazing!

I think they make an unscented Elnett hairspray, at least here in the States I also hate the smell of the original. Can you ask Sara what your haircut style is like to me it looks like one length with layers framing your face but I'm just guessing Thanks!
