Welcome to the Baretta Special fan club! Great necks and just so easy to play. I put a Super-Vee Bladerunner trem on mine which really improves the feel, and although the trem costs almost as much as the guitar it was worth it, as the rest of the guitar is such good quality. It’s my office guitar which I kinda miss sometimes when I’m at home.

I had one of those JS22s in matt black for a while and it was a really nice guitar. It was very comfortable. I loved the pickups. It was great for blues and blues rock.
@anthonyconeyislandman28852 жыл бұрын
Hi steve, this is Anthony from coneyisland, I was watching you unpack the Kramer, that's the guitar I picked, except I picked it before you lol. mine will be here by Thurs. you forgot to mention its a mahogany body n I know you were looking at the black finish other guitar but this is the better choice. good luck and enjoy. been watching you a lot. you crack me up. I've been playing since I'm 13 and I'll be 70 soon. been playing chet atkins to acdc. keep rocking man.

Huge difference after you backed the claw and lubed the nut! It sounded like SFB after you did all that. This would be a fun mod project. New trem, new pickup, tusq nut, locking tuners, etc. Might have to try that soon! 🤘

Steve, these budget guitar vids are so much more interesting than the $4k guitar vs $4k guitar vids we see so much of on KZbin. I figured you’d go with the brand you chose (no spoilers). I have my eye on an HSS setup. Just not sure which one yet. Kinda thinking of going the budget route and modding as necessary. Just something to get my feet wet in modifying. Btw that guitar you chose is sweet!
@WickedFesterBand2 жыл бұрын
Got two of them. I have the red and the purple. That blue was on my radar. Did you notice the volume knob is an on off switch? There is a resistor in there (failed attempt at treble bleed). Snip it and the volume pot will work better. I modded mine. Both! Gotoh tuning machines, CTS pot, larger trem block and a Duncan JB.
@musicbill2 жыл бұрын
I got the same exact guitar last year. Sounds great and plays awesome for the price. I upgraded the pick up to an EVH Frankenstein and Grover locking tuners. This thing rocks. Cant beat it for the price. The neck feels great, and it plays fast.

Steve, I have one of those in purple and I also have the blue one as well. I bought them when they were $179 from Sweetwater. I also bought the Kramer Hard Shell cases for $59 each.

Great video! That shade of deep ocean blue is stunning! Through the magic of KZbin, and Steve’s ‘under-the-radar’ use of Acme Shipping from Warner Bros. Road Runner cartoons, he was able to order it, receive it, and play it in the same episode - bonus points! Unlike Wile E. Coyote’s inevitable and epic failure after receiving goods from Acme, Steve plays that Kramer like a Rock Star!!

I just got the white one from sweetwater and I've been playing for over 40+ years . My other guitars are a Jackson Dinky and an Custom ESP super strat ! The Baretta special is not as good as either of those .......but neither of them are ten times better by any means ! If your on a budget......the Kramer is a no brainer ! Cut the treble bleed capacitor on the volume pot and it will work like it should and it's a keeper ! A straight neck and No fret sprout at all and the best fret Job I've ever seen on any guitar less than $600 !

just so you know steve thats not a resistor on the pot its a capasitor i have the exact same guitar color and all, also the removing of the 1 spring helps with geting more movment out. of the weammy but the bridge still lifts on mine even with the claw all the way down leaving the 3 in and losening the claw works better how ever iam sure iam going to have to use rollar saddles and file the nut top open the slots lubing it on mine didnt help still wacks out of tune like made strat brisges have always been and eyesore next for me will be a new set of strings the factory strings always suck on guitars so not all of these will benifit from the same fixes thats for sure, even my control for my volume is not crapy like everyone says they are so they say remove the resistor which again is not a resistror its a capasitor

I've got two of them, the blue with maple and white with Indian laurel fretboard. I like them, but you should clip the capacitor on the volume or, like I did, replace the pot and install a treble bleed cap/resistor. I also put locking tuners on them, mostly for ease of string changes. The maple comes in three colors, the Indian laurel come in black and white.
@jimcamp24232 жыл бұрын
I guessed it was the flat black Kramer. Didn't completely rule out the blue single pickup as you teased us with being one of the few that the video took more time to assess. I knew the natural went out of the running, even though it was click worthy to look at in further detail for the purchase portion. How did the blue compare to what was the stock photo ? I would've bought the Squier Bullet Brown Sun Burst. I don't like single pickup guitars. If they're going to put knobs & a switch, might as well get a neck & bridge pickup at least. For the old guy guitars SSS HT & the Brown Sun Burst, a mint green pickguard maybe. After hearing the blue Kramer, it sounds awesome for a $ 200 guitar. I just can't do that Kramer headstock shape, the Kevin Durrant foot shape.
@BrianBrazilHarmonica2 жыл бұрын
Newer Maple necks and Fretboards that are roasted are darker than the standard Maple and are not prone to changing shape due to changes moisture in their environment. So you have to get use to new looks on guitar necks. Stainless Steel frets feel different and last much much longer. So necks will be much more consistent and not be affected by temperature and humidity. Both of those things are better for guitar players.

I always wanted one when I was a kid but had no money. I live fifteen minutes away. They are missing about half their inventory. I am so glad that you got the blue Kramer - that's the one that I wanted but I am still on the fence. It's pretty dry here in Indiana too. We got a lot of snow and more on the way. At least they offer a maple fretboard over rosewood. I can get pretty good action from a regular Fender tremolo. It's how well you adjust your springs in the back. I never have to use lubricant on the nut or any other part of the guitar which is why I don't understand why so many people make such a fuss over Fender Stratocaster tremolos because it has stood the test of time and is still the most copied of all. I have Floyd Rose tremolos - a few of them but the Fender is still my favourite for simplicity and ease of use next to the Floyd. I can get a lot of use out of either one. But as it goes that is a good buy and with FREE shipping beats a lot of other places that still charge for it. Once again - I AM SO GLAD that you bought the Kramer. Thank you for sharing this with the rest of us.

Steve you should be sponsored more. You do a good job showcasing affordable gear no matter who the manufacturer may be. Thought I had was? Why do we consider it an upgrade to remove the Fender style trem? As far as I know Ed, Dave, Jeff and others made the all those songs with a Fender trem. Not some Vega or Trem King or blah blah blah. Yeah the floyd rose is there. But the fender is the best trem right? Everything has it's draw backs. So is the Fender trem the best trem ever?

I would stay in the high end of budget and get the 2010 reissue ..Kramer Pacer at $349.00 USD . You get a real licenced Floyd , all maple neck with alder body which has been a pro woods since 1950 and alnico 5 hummies. You end up with an entry level pro guitar instead of just plain entry level guitar.
