Hey Piz, thanks for that review. Honest, I never heard from this movie before! I just checked, the german title of "The Kindred" was titled "Anthony" and although I was a regular video rental customer at my local video store in the 80´s, I must have overlooked it somehow. The Synapse release is expensive but I think I will afford it. It´s very delightful to see this movie in such a great picture and sound quality as you mentioned it. As a great "extras" fan I guess I won´t go wrong with this release. And as a collector of good produced Media or Steelbooks I think it´s worth the money.

I used to have the VHS back in the day but was never a huge fan of it back then. But now I missed it so I bought the steelbook and haven't watched it yet. I do remember the movie being slow but geez those sf/x! Good review and cool video Pizowell!☝😀👆

This is a classic! I wanted this on Bluray ever since i saw it on VHS. The steelbook edition is very expensive now but i got lucky and found a Spanish version. Gonna be so fun to see it again!

If you splice music from the first two Splatterhouse games into the slimier scenes from this movie, it fits perfectly. Same for 'Seedpeople'. 0:42 / 0:44 I did and I did. 0:47 Totally!

There's just something special about those 80's horror movies. Most of the horrors I have are from that period, along with some from the mid to late seventies. Many of the horrors from the 90's and 2000's are remakes, which seldom if ever top the original.

Sharp edition, I picked this up too. I wish every label that releases Steelbooks would make the back specs sheet small enough size to fit inside under the clips - only Synapse does this 👍

It’s an absolute disgrace that The Kindred won’t get a standard release from synapse. With that being said, good job on the review. It’s pricey but it is a good release.

The price is pretty steep for a blu ray. I'm sure it's a jam packed release, but I don't think I can justify 50 bucks on one movie that isn't really a favorite

I LOVE this movie. LOVE IT!!!!!! Honestly in my top ten movies of all time. It's so nice to see intelligent females in an 80's movie. It's kinda rare. I love the story and dialog. I'm so sad you didn't like The Kindred. I just adore this movie. I love the creature effects. I'd love to have a little kindred in a jar although I'm not so sure my husband would be thrilled with that. I'm so happy with the bluray. The extras are fantastic. I just can't say enough great things about. I absolutely love this film

I don't dislike the movie, I'm just have mixed feelings about it. The creature effects and special make-ups are stellar and I agree with you about the movie featuring intelligent women.

@@pizowell The problems I have with Pumpkinhead are: 1. It's a stupid title, and 2. Christopher Walken is a little too monotone for my liking. But, it is a good movie overall. Just a shape about the creature's name.

Love Synapse but tired of these $50 steelbooks. The actual 4K release will likely follow after this sells out.

I had this on video in the early 90s, I was like 6 years old watching horror films. Loved it. But when I got it off Ebay last month it was called "trans-gen" not happy. Dont know who thought that name up. Stupid

Just watched this for the first time (right here on KZbin in fact). Certainly not a bad film and has some extremely good creature effects, and the characters are all fairly well drawn and acted (lead excepted). I think the problems are more to do with the writing which seems unnecessarily vague and muddled, as well as the fact that "Anthony" is the lead's brother ultimately means little to nothing - the lead and his friends set about destoying it regardless with no crisis of conscience at all.
