sorry if this is a bit unconcise, i had to try and manage teaching the trick while also actually managing to get the pause timing right (its very imprecise)

extra note: you only need to mash the run bind enough for two presses! if you prefer to do it for longer then you might wanna also mash your grab bind too, which is what some other runners have done extra note 2: binding your "select" button on your controller to the left mouse click in steam input settings, moving your cursor away from the game window and using that button instead of your actual mouse click can make this skip a lot more consistent! not long after i proposed the idea, steam input was voted to be allowed in runs so go wild!

the steam input method doesnt seem to work for me, i added left click as an extra command to the select button but it doesn actually click, this only seems to happen when pt is tabbed in for some reason (i changed the controller settings to steam input in pt's settings btw)

okay, so i managed to make it work, but thing is it doesnt tab out on the next frame like it should, instead it does both in the same frame, making it so you tab out before actually pausing. how do i fix dis??!!1 edit: just realized it said select not start,,, god dammit

yes, on the very next frame after you press the pause button on your controller (remember that it is controller only), you need to click out of the game window with your mouse (tabbing out using alt + tab won't work properly)

you tab out by clicking outside the game window on the next frame, not the same frame this can be made easisr by binding your select button to the left mouse click in steam's controller settings and moving your mouse outside of the game window, which just means you dont have to use a controller and mouse at the same time and wont get any latency issues that comes from that
