This is my 2nd time watching this enjoyable film! Great cast and story! "Skeets" Gallagher was always cast as a drunkard and played one well.

David Manners is a favorite. He wasn't terribly interested in the "Hollywood scene", so by his own choosing found a life with his partner in retirement bliss. He's always such a fine addition to a film and easy on the eyes as well.

I read that he did a reading with Joan Crawford and quit the film business that very day.

@@buffalopatriot From the research that's been done regarding her career, It's not a great surprise that it was a one-shot experience. She starred in a lot of movies, but I think she was exceptionally skilled at the film noir style.

David Manners is the most beautiful and handsome man ever seen on silver screen...and to think he was gay, I mean a lot of women must have been heart-broken about him.

Well, that's disappointing. My taste in men runs more along the craggier, character-featured faces, like Richard Widmark or Dan Duryea, but there were plenty of conventionally "beautiful and handsome" actors in that era who weren't gay - Errol Flynn, George Brent, Gregory Peck, to name a few.

The script for this "movie" was written by one of the earliest letter writers to Penthouse Magazine whose story began with ".....you won't believe this but......" This could not take my mind off the depression if it came with a pound of nose candy. Sorry.
