So much love for her here by those of us that know that already , but still saddens me that in most main stream she gets no mention at all.She could act any role, sing, direct, write and produce -What else does she need to have done to get some recognition? Deserves a movie or TV mini series to document her amazing achievements Meanwhile great Movie with Sally Forrest perfect in this role and the supporting cast spot on in a very well directed and written screenplay.Never too mawkish or melodramatic , instead thoughtful look at the situation as it was then.Nobody here is bad , bad things just happen.Thanks PizzaFix.

@csrollyson4 жыл бұрын
@Jack Cleary Yes, I first encountered it in geometry. Here I meant that the actors and their interactions were powerful because each actor/tress was congruent with the role, so it felt to me that they weren't acting, they _were_ that role. Part of that is the actress/actor, but part of it is the director who sets up their interactions. A director is a conjuror. Ida Lupino is a master.

@@annielehnhardt_kolakowski5818 It is very different today where there is help for single mothers. Back then, not only was an unwed mother dealing with the judgment of society, but the child was labeled a bastard. And the mother had to do everything on her own, because usually the family disowned her. This movie has a happy ending which is more than a lot of women had back then when the entire affair was kept secret forever and haunted them for as long as they lived. @LuciThomasHardylover-qx6ts5 ай бұрын
Ouch! How does putting a child up for adoption meet their physical and emotional needs? Even just basic biological needs of an infant to stay in close skin constant with their mother isn't met. Are you confusing a social stigma that makes life hard to bring up a child on your own with a woman's inability to meet her child's needs? Or you think that the unmarried part makes a physical difference to a child's needs? What about the huge numbers of children in this era who lost fathers they never met or couldn't remember because of the war? Were they damaged by not being put up for adoption? Your comment doesn't make sense.

for real. Most do, especially a girl this young. She ran from her parents to chase the man, and then was too proud to return. It is a melodrama, and she therefore makes many things hard on herself. This movie was remade in 1982. "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" the Stacey plot. For all the modern choices for that 15yr old, the institutions were much colder, darker and relatively heartless. The "Free" Clinic even charged her $150 and she was back on the street in a few minutes with no compassion.

Great film. A very important film that has all of the hallmarks of Ida Lupino's input as writer, director and producer. Great casting and acting and emotional realism. The cinematography was great and so was the music. Ten out of ten.

fabulous to the very end. what I wouldn't give to just have a conversation with her. her creativity, and relatable work were so in touch. everyones' acting was superb. the human condition superbly portrayed. she is no longer physically with us, but that indomitable spirit certainly is, with this body of work. todays filmmakers, with the exception of a handful, pale in comparison. always something to strive for

I really admire Ida Lupino --- besides being a fine actress, what a great director she was. And Sally Forrest was a marvelous actress. I didn't know about her until this movie. Now I want to watch Young Lovers that Ms. Lupino directed and that Ms. Forrest also starred in. Greetings from Querétaro, México, where I moved to from Dallas, Texas, five months ago. After spending 67 years in Dallas, Querétaro is my new home. I am as happy here as I was in Dallas, and I love watching fine movies like this one. La vida es buena. ~ Life s good.

I don't know if the Motion Picture Academy, DGA, etc. give posthumous awards, but Ida Lupino certainly deserves one.

@@PizzaFLIX, a tad more garlic for the "sass", and more of that homemade "sassage", pretty please? I love the new picks of films you pull out of your "magic" bag of tricks! 10-Q

Oh, she does. She was such a feminine actress, such a beauty... so Hollywood Classic!
