I don’t know much about the load trail but I’d say it’s a good trailer I would just compare standard features vs price on both brands I choose PJ because I’ve had other PJ trailers and they’ve been great, also the dealer experience was really good

Lots of good info Paul great review of the trailer looks to be very well built including a few flaws. I watched the whole video looking at the scratched up hand. Hope you get lots of use from the trailer and it helps with the firewood business.

Very nice trailer! But I agree PJ needs some better quality control. Those are things that should have been checked over before it was sent out.

Yeah I should have went over it at the dealer too but it was cold and I was ready to get home and figured it would be good, oh well next time I’ll go over it with a fine tooth comb.

I just bought one too. Same thing on the rear door lock. Just need to pus the handle/latch a bit. Opens real easy. Same to close it. No hammer needed. It was a nuisance at first tho. Kinda hated it. Deffinitely could bend it a bit to make it better. Thinking about it myself.nice vid man. Enjoyed the full review with your opinnions as well. Happy with my purchase as well I saw the end part lol. Thats why your finger is bloody. I havent used the tarp, but i did have to put a wire to secure in place, i find the tarp mechanism does not lock it properly. So the tube in the tarp actually was falling off on the highway. Its a bit loose so i dont trust that. Thats my only issue, ill be checking that handle weld lol. So idont cut my hand. I subbed man

I had the same problem with the latch being stuck and the pin not engaging. Push the handle in and work in the oil, it'll get better. Then I hit the bracket once with a hammer and the pin engages. My biggest gripe is that there is a cross beam missing on the bed, right where the front wheels of a tractor will sit. I can see the sheet steel bow out. I'm taking this back to the dealer to see if they'll fix it. Or I'll weld in a beam. The seam also isn't welded completely. I'm hoping they fix that then redo the powder coat.

Seems not welded on mine either and no brace, evidently that’s the way they do them all, doesn’t seem right though.

I definitely like my PJ but I think they should have addressed those issues before sending it out to a dealer.

I agree with the problems that you pointed out on the trailer. It is hard to get good finished work. By chance do you know how far the bottom of the coupler is off the ground when the trailer is level the way you have it setup and how much it can be raised at maximum height? I have emailed 2 manufacturers

Not sure I’ll have to check next time I hook it up, as fas as adjustability it will go down pretty much to the ground up to probably 2.5 to 3 feet just estimating

Can anyone tell me who makes a better quality trailer PJ or big Tex ???

I like the PJ better for the price, at least at the time I got mine the PJ had better standard features like the tarp kit and side step, the PJ had a couple small issues I wasn’t completely happy with, but don’t know if big Tex would have any better fit and finish. When I was purchasing I was looking at PJ, Big Tex, Gatormade, Sure Trac, Home Steader, Moritz, and Texas Pride, availability was a big issue as some had a lead time of 30 weeks or more, and the PJ I could get right then, but I had narrowed it down to PJ, Moritz, or Suretrac. PJ was what I could get that had all the options I wanted, but after having it now for several months I couldn’t be happier with it.

It’s not your fault the trailer is defective and it’s a pity the manufacturer has let themselves down. Otherwise it’s a good strong trailer.

Exactly the same issues I have with my 2021 😡 I didn’t open the barn gates and their super stiff!

Now that I have used my trailer a bit things are loosening up and are much easier to deal with, I did grind the hole out a bit for the gate to swing back and lock into and it’s good now too.
