thanx for sharing. rebuilding the top curve will brake surface continuity with top part i think. the main reason for this failure is non symmetrical curves. if both curves are symmetric to the sweep axis, a symmetric sweep will be the outcome. Given that, it will help to add a curve point to the bottom curves where the V of the top curve is, as a centre guide. Another, safer approach to ensure surface continuity would be to sweep the two bottom curves and then do a BlendSrf to the V shaped to surface. This requires the top surface to be properly trimmed and joined first. Or, create 2 sweeps for either half separately and join them afterwards. not that safe for surface continuity, but safer that rebuilding the top curve instead of using the existing surface edge for the sweep. the technique shown in this video is correct, yet demands for the top part of the ring to be resweeped using the newlly created surface edges, to keep is all seamless and solid. hope all the above make clear some alternate workflows. there is never a universally good solution, but what is better for the specific job. greetings and thank you for your hard and good job. you keep our modelling brains working.

I have some question. If the edge is not 100% match between surface and curve, then how to join to the upper shank without naked edge to avoid 3d printing problem?

nattapas pranishautra you can cap them separately. Then Boolean unit for 3 d print. The only down side is the rendering will have a line there.

I will sweep the top and bottom separately and boolean unit them together.

@@PJChenJewelryDesign I had the same question. When you change the cross section with more points then it is no longer 100% the same as it was before. Does it fit the upper half or do you rebuild the top cross section in the same way as the bottom?

it won't fit since the cross-session is different. you will need to re-sweep the top to make it look flow nicely.

Flow along surface should do the job if the surface is not to dramatically different in 3 directions. However, Grasshopper will be the app to use for this type of task.
