How would you implement this technique if the surface was a half sphere and not a low dome?

the more dome surface you have the shorter straight edges you can have to make it look shape edge. It can still have the straight illusion by design. or you can increase the height on the pattern.

This lesson is great But rhino should fix this so we don't have to build everything again on surfaces which are curved.
