Hello everyone !! at 8:14 min of the video, when I try the trim command, my mouse wont select the outer surface :( if someone can help me thank you so much

i got the same problem too. but the cause is because my curve is self intersecting, and then I sweep it. This is how I fix this, in rhino 7 you could select intersecting curve, fix the curve. And then trim by using the middle closed curve as cutting object. hope this help.
