Tumbbad movie story is based on two stories written by famous marathi horror novel author Narayan Dharap, hastar comes from story 'Aaji' in a book named Anolkhi Disha part 3 and the Wada and greed, gold comes from story 'bali' in a book named Padchhaya, both written by Narayan Dharap, he also wrote the marathi adaption of cthulu in Anolkhi Disha part 2 as 'Swapnancha Raja Cthulu'.

It’s sad that some commercial movie fans still fail to understand the depth of this movie!! I watched it in 2018 on mobile and got addicted to this movie , watched atleast 3 times on mobile and always prayed that it re - releases in big screen again , I would never miss it! My prayers got answered & yesterday I watched it on big screen with a friend who loved Stree 2 more than this & couldn’t understand Tumbbad as it didn’t have item numbers or romance or crude jokes or masala entertainment, my friend couldn’t grasp the brilliance of Tumbbad and that shows the reality of majority Indian audience! But I guess to each his own!! I absolutely loved watching this gem on the big screen 😍🤩!! I used to fast forward some parts of the movie but yesterday after watching the entire movie, I discovered so much that I missed in mobile - viewing!! So happy that this masterpiece is finally getting its recognition even if some masala movie lovers can’t appreciate or understand it, still this movie and this franchise is getting more fans and viewers, even that’s commendable !!!

I watched this movie in theaters for 3 times. This movie sets benchmark for horror movie even for Hollywood. I have many Hollywood movies which shows famous quotes at the beginning of the movie. In such movies by the time we reach ending everybody forgets about that quote. But this movie was exception, the after end of this movie. I suddenly recalled the quote and understood, why that quote was there at the beginning 😳
