Fly Fishing for Wild Brown Trout - It was a tough summer on the river!

I had been hoping to get enough fly fishing footage to create a decent video, it just didn't happen due to the weather, low water levels and fussy trout! So this is what I managed to film, I hope you enjoy it.

hi Paul, nice to see one of your videos again, it was a hard summer here but in all I had quite a good season with 5 brown around 2lb and one 2.5 also my PB grayling of 1.5 lb and for the last two weeks the rivers have been up and fast but now in full spate with flooding of meadows in some places but when it goes down I too will be out for the grayling.....good luck with the pike fishing. Hi Paul, just wondering what fishing you're up to recently as i have had no luck with the pike at the moment on soft lures, not sure whether it is too late for lure fishing pike but i gave it a try and nothing. Any stretches around Exeter you recommend for pike, perch, chub or trout at the moment would be much appreciated. As always great video keep it up.

Hi Julian. I’ve been struggling with pike myself. I have sneaked a couple out on deadbaits but unfortunately I can’t say where they are from. I know that the Exeter canal has produced a few to deadbaits and the Exe near the water works should be good for a few pike. I’ve wondered if it’s been too mild yet. I do better when the frosts start
