Goodness.... Kyle the cold, is sooooo different than you think at speed haha. Perhaps it won't be so bad considering you aren't going to be trying to go super fast... but even around 60 mph. Comfortable cold while not moving turns you into a popsicle at 60.

Same here.. I took a turn going 20mph and got tunnel vision and went wide into the other lane and off the road. Luckily no traffic and I didn't lay it down. I can take that turn at 50mph now.

I grew up racing motocross, from age 6 to 19, and that's one of the rudiment technique things they would teach is don't look at your front fender, or if you're in a rut, don't look right in front of your tire in the rut, look at the end of the rut. Do the ol "pick a point in the distance and focus on that" thing. I've also heard car guys say "Look where you want to go, not where you don't.."

I live in one of the two german states that has been flooded and all that water came down in less than 24 hours, in my village, which is on top of a mountain, there have been 2 power outages, in another one in a valley there have been more than three. A whole lake that is used for drinkiing water is contaminated by oil and other chemicals that were flushed into it.

@@paddington1670 ^ this. This is why i paid the extra 200 thru the harley dealership. They had a row of buells for usto ride. One dude popped a wheelie toward the instructor. (Clutch/throttle issue)..the instructor stepped aside, watched the dude crash, went to help him up and make sure he was ok (he was fine)... Turned to us and said, "I will not catch you..." Then rolled over another for him to ride.

Same thing happened to a buddy of mine. Brought him to pick up his first bike, he made it 0.8miles before he dumped it on a light curve. Slid 20ft on his shoulders and dislocated one upon meeting the curb and the footrest ripped an 8inch hole in his calf. Saw human muscle meat that day. He's fine now.

It’s hard for them to teach everything there. It’s called a basic course for a reason. It’s been 15 or so years for me when I took it but they did have us running over obstacles like 2x4s and such and taught you how to take it head on so I’d say that should translate well to a driveway.

It feels way more heavy when you're either stopped or going very slowly. With some speed it feels way more natural. A bit like a bicycle even, try and ride as slow as you can versus medium speed is WAY harder.

Kyle’s right about the slow turning thing. I grew up riding/racing dirt bikes so I can ride decent but when I rode a street bike it was so weird. You have to lean way more than you think you need to with slow 90 degree corners. I nearly put it in a ditch cause I tried turning the handlebars instead of leaning.
