I was a 16 year old working for a house mover. We were moving bank buildings, barns, railroad depots, barracks and of course houses. These guys operate so much like we did. NOTHING! Was easy, one had to have a mechanical mind just to stay alive. These g videos bring me back to a kid. I'm expecting an old man flying under the truck and showing one of the kids how to pump a jack: "All the way up to the top of the stroke! Otherwise we'll never get anywhere!"

These instances of trucks being constantly overwhelmingly overloaded are often the norm for independent contractors ( self employed drivers)the problem with this trend is the truck unfortunately precipitate catastrophic accidents subsequently resulting in a structural collapse or a mechanical failure is definitely a certainty incredibly the amazing manpower that proliferate the accident itself to repair the truck itself is remarkable and astonishingly pragmatic and extremely effective

I lean way back when they stack pieces of wood one on the other then the labor jack. Oh boy! We were taught to pile two spaced blocks of wood one way then the next two the opposite way. Two north and south. The next two east and west. Going up. Less likely the tip. The jack either pops out and nail a someone or heavy weight crashes down. Did yo notice the kids at 8:40 putting a piece of pipe on the jack handle while the the other kid is between the direction of the push and the truck? If the pipe pops off they both learn something Getting past the amazing safety angel watching over them, they are absolutely outstanding repair and overhaul geniuses. I love watching them.

Why don't you go back to 1890? These people do what they do because they're poor. Welding that axle back is a big no-no if you know a bit of metallurgy. Enjoy the modern vehicles that you have in Spain and be grateful. They are light years ahead of these old trucks.

Amazing workmanship, skills and work ethics and courage! Courage because I can't help being concerned how they all do this heavy lifting wearing slippers and no protective gear and also their sole reliance on these hydraulic jacks while under the heavy units. What if the jack should slip off or malfunction and working in the middle of the street with no safety cones or protective barriers. Amazing!

And poor maintenance. Did you look at that broken axle? Only half of it was shinny. The rest of the section was oxidized already. That axle was cracked some time before it failed completely. Had they inspected the truck periodically, they'd have seen it.
@mrmyorky5634
@mrmyorky5634 Жыл бұрын
Overloading? what does that mean? I counted 20 leaf springs in that rear axle spring pack. Surely that should be good enough for 40 tons of axle load? Seriously though these guys are hardworking and deserve admiration. They give those trucks another lifetime of use whilst we in the west who are obsessed with saving the planet still encompass planned obsolescence and just chuck everything away.
@johnnyblue4799
@johnnyblue4799 Жыл бұрын
@@mrmyorky5634 1. That's too small to be a 40 tons truck. 2. The front axle broke, so the rear springs were okay. 3. Nobody contested that these guys are hardworking, or that the west is not f-ed up, but that doesn't mean these guys wouldn't do the same if they were wealthy and could afford new trucks. Some of the repairs are quite shady, like that welding of the front axle. And there wasn't even any heat treatment applied to it after welding.
@mrmyorky5634
@mrmyorky5634 Жыл бұрын
@@johnnyblue4799 I was joking about it being a 40 ton truck but most of the trucks over there seem to be way overloaded and there doesn't seem to be any enforcement on weight limits. I've every admiration for what these guys achieve and they also know how to make an interesting video. Welding up that front axle forging though was a step too far for me as well.

In Western countries, it is usually less expensive to replace such parts rather than repair them. In India and similar areas, labor is very cheap, so repair/rebuilding is more economical. There is also the problem in India that replacement parts may not even be available, so they have to rebuild them - no matter how roughly they do so. @@mrmyorky5634

Here's an idea: How about not overloading the trucks so they wouldn't break in the first place? Just saying what others are thinking! :) And welding a forged axle? Seriously? I hope they don't plan on it lasting long (I seriously doubt it will). Maybe long enough to get it a proper replacement.
@buggsy5
@buggsy5 11 ай бұрын
The truck owners are usually not the drivers. They are cheapskates and are not about to replace a part unless it absolutely cannot be patched together again, no matter how poorly the repair is done. It is less expensive for the business owner to have two or three trucks that frequently break down than it is to own one truck in good condition.
