Hello Phil, it depends on the size of your dog. I have both big dogs and medium size dogs. For the big dogs, I use a 2' x 3' board. For the smaller dogs, I use an 18" x 24" board. What ever size you build, suggest you make at least two. You'll want to go from board to board with certain commands.

@@BirdDogsAfield Also I want to build a Whoa table with the ramps. Is 2ft wide by 8 ft long a good size? Plus it will have 2 ramps 2ft x 4 ft

@@bowhunterphil, that's exactly the size that we have. Some professional trainers prefer a 12' long table. More room to work.

What’s the pro’s and con’s of teaching whoa on a place board as opposed to a whoa “post”? Cheers
