Anvils are Gravity Blocks, that shovel should of been able to pick up the anvil from the prototype build 1, in the pit next to the axe. That was probably one of the secrets.

fun fact: you can make half blocks (a.k.a. vertical slabs) by using a debug stick on stone walls and setting their sides to full height and removing the center post. fair warning tho if you do this, updating the blocks around them will fix it back to the way the game wants them to be, so if you use this trick in mapmaking, make sure you do the walls after youre done with the blocks around them.
