It's easier to use a sectional matrix in this situation. Circular matrixes are usually used to restore proximal cavities on teeth that have no contact points. For example you want to do a mesio-occlusal obturation on 16 but 15 is missing or has migrated and the contact point is missing. Doesn't matter if it's a molar or a premolar...

wedge Should almost always goes lingual to buccal as he did, not buccal to lingual. you get a better contact that way
