Placido Domingo est pour moi un artiste d'une qualité exceptionnelle, il a une voix magnifique dont il se sert à merveille, j'ai pour lui une telle admiration et un profond respect en pensant aux nombres d'heures et des jours de travail qui lui ont été nécessaires pour atteindre ce niveau. Il est de plus capable de si belles intérprétations, un jeu si juste, si vrai. Il est mon maître, c'est indéniable.

There seems to be a great debate about whether some tenors adopt a sort of falsetto voice on those really high notes. There is no doubt that Domingo continues to sing in his "chest voice" throughout. One is inclined to say "Bravo". But on the other hand one fears for his wellbeing. He sounds as if he is about to burst a blood vessel. (Unlike Vanzo for instance). However, Domingo's blood pressure recently survived its severest test to date. That was: singing a duet with the incredibly beautiful Helene Fischer on 31OCT2015.

you are confusing full head voice with chest voice.its simply impossible to hold up for so many years singing opera at the top with chest voice,you should know that..lol..concerning the health issue,anyone at his age(75)could have much worse than that...yet,i find Gedda's version far more beautiful and now days Lawrence Brownlee version even more...

I did listen to gigli - but the bad quality of recordings at that time really hurt the performance - so I will stick with this one - much better quality and more enjoyable.

Entiendo el colosal esfuerzo de Domingo al cual considero un gran tenor, pero las cualidades de su voz son arrebatadamente portentosas y requirió a mi humilde entender de un manejo llenero del fiato y cuidarse a un mediano staccato, e aquí una gran diferencia de su voz respecto , por Ej. de Mario Lanza, quien por sus muy particulares características vocales cabe resaltar , lamentablemente Lanza nunca pudo interpretar esta hermosa pieza.

Claro que le fue posible en su momento.Se sabe que no era un Tenor de gracia pero daba el si/b espléndido e inclusive el și/n.y para dar bien un si/n por lo menos tienes que poder vocalizar un re o un do sostenido Por lo tanto siempre ha tenido el do agudo,otra cosa es que cantaba un repertorio donde no lo necesitaba por que todo estaba en notas más bajas

I have read somewhere when Placido Domingo was asked about his high-C's.. he answered , "well I don't have one"... Pointing out the difficulty he has for generating that note... It seems in fact he has... Or is it not a high-C in the end?

Murat Ozturk - There is no doubt that Placido is critical of his own talents but that quality has made him work extra hard to achieve those high Cs. This was gorgeous, such thrilling sounds and true emotion. Bravo.

Estás hablando de una ópera que es una de las especialidades de Alfredo Kraus, un cantante maravilloso pero de pequeño repertorio en comparación con el de Placido Domingo. Evidentemente que la versión de Kraus es magnífica, como lo son el Otello, Tosca, Manon Lescaut, y tantísimas tantísimas de Domingo, que es un fuera de serie en el mundo de la ópera, te guste a ti o no. No confundir churras con merinas. Si Domingo es el nº 1 por algo será

Tener mayor repertorio no te hace el mejor, no es lo mismo cantidad que calidad y mingo ahí pierde por goleada. El maestro Alfredo Kraus fue conciente de lo que su voz nos podía brindar, siendo el mejor e interpretó como ninguno el repertorio romántico francés - belcantista. (Por cierto, en el repertorio verista, el único Dios máximo fue FRANCO CORELLI) SE TENIA QUE DECIR Y SE DIJO.
