Placing Images (Affinity Photo)

Thank you for this tutorial. I have recently left Adobe for Affinity Photo. The process that you describe is one that I have to use in one of my projects. It is easier to place photos in Affinity than in Photoshop.

Ive recently moved from Photoshop to Affinity Photo 2 and so far im really enjoying it. There are a few quality of life changes id personally like to see but its a very good tool for a very good price. Great job!

How about when you're placing images larger than the document? In Photoshop I used to drag everything in and it automatically resized the images to fit, but in Affinity Photo I have to do everything manually - is there another way? Thank you! 😊

Great vid on the subject. I discovered how to flip an image by accident a couple of months ago. The multiple images with the side bar feature is a great add feature that I’m sure will come in handy one day.

Let's supose you are placing multiple images. The Place Images panel opens, and then you place the first image on the document. Then you do some work on it, for example applying a filter. In this while the Place Images is still there, with all other images that you didn't place on the document yet. But now, after have working with the first image, if you click on an image on the Place Images panel, and then try to place it on the document, it doesn't work. The placement tool is not active anymore, and I couldn't find out a way to call it back. What to do in such situation?

Unfortunately I can't place several images in my document. When I follow the steps you showed the panel "place image" does not open. Only one image is placed instead.

I've just started using Affinity Photo 2. Tried to Open New Document from Clipboard (a snapshot saved from Foxit pdf). It opens to correct size, but no image, just shows the transparent background. Worked for years in v1. Am I doing something wrong?! Can't find any reference to this problem in Help. Thank you.

Hi James, I know that on Mac, you can open a photo from the Photos App from the “new” dialog box. But is there a way to place photos from Apple Photos (again I’m referring to the Mac version) into a new layer in an already open, existing Affinity Photo document? Is there an integrated browser within Affinity Photo that lets me choose the photo to add from Apple Photos?

While holding file by mouse, press Command+Tab, then release only Tab and drop file onto desired application icon, release Command, thats it!

Affinity will not allow me to access images in my files. Affinity doesn't show sizes in Inches, which requires a lot of wasted extra work to start with the correct size... i do NOT want to collage images. i only want to work on MY images but your program won't allow me to access my own images,

What do you mean? In the Photo Persona, you can select Units: Images in the horizontal menu bar.

Hi Trevor, image is out of focus...? Not sure what you mean? Does your image appear blurry when placed?
