I already have its predecessor, the Bakfram, which I love a lot. Every time I turn it on it never bores me! I'm really looking forward to the Baklengs, especially because now you have SWITCHES for the reverse and octave modes, and the feedback switch makes it also a lot more cool, and with some features more in line with the Fabrikat (btw I used to have also the Fabrikat, but I've kept only the Bakfram: in its straightforwardness and simplicity is more fun and intuitive to use)!
@AmbientEndeavors3 жыл бұрын
I completely agree! Baklengs for me is a really approachable granular synth, compact and everything I'd need/want. The addition of switches makes it a lot more user friendly. Easier to grab and find cool sounds almost immediately!

How can you initiate a loop? Is it by stepping on the right footswitch or tapping the left footswitch twice or accenting a note to make it louder or will it only start and end its loops as it cares to with no control by you?
@tommyrotts3 жыл бұрын
So to be clear, the differences from Bakfram are the ability to switch octave/direction without messing everything up, and the feedback toggle. But everything else is the same? It's like 6 am and I have am perpetually brain dead, so I just want to make sure. Maybe he changed something with the way the knobs work or something, I dunno. Great demo as per usual, I wish you would release your music at some point, but I can live with YT playlists
@AmbientEndeavors3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, main differences are interface (addition of the 3 toggles). Knut redesigned from the ground up, but said it's very similar to Bakfram. If sounds a bit more "refined" to me; but that could be placebo. The pitch shifting does not have the mystery weird mode that Bakfram had, which I don't miss. I DO have a bunch of music released on all the streaming platforms :) here's a Spotify link , check it out! open.spotify.com/artist/6K2iIaKWCotVvzrL8ryV2W?si=tC6dMG-eTe6FfdujTcDIfg&dl_branch=1

I like the Bakfram secret mode haha, but Baklengs has its secrets too... I am going to try and snag one tomorrow either way, as Bakfram is one of my favorites. Thanks for the info, and thanks for the link! Hope you do bandcamp/patreon at some point so I can throw money at you for all the good music/info you put out!

Nice. I feel it replaces all my hologram microcosm that actually gets used..but better, less temperamental trigger, doesn't overly remove highs. Minus reverb,loop, and an LFO style mod since that is basically a multifx but i have those on other pedals, its better to have then separate much simpler.
@AmbientEndeavors2 жыл бұрын
I honestly agree - I often reach for the Banlengs for its simplicity. I can almost instantly find a sound or texture I love with it, and the modulation is so good. Microcosm is an entirely different beast, but I’m a huge fan of the Baklengs. Thanks for watching!

Is this a mini looper like the mood? Or are you using something else to loop it all?

Such a gorgeous demo. But the Baklengs really needs a tone control for the upper octaves. So much more useful than the volume control, no?

Definitely would benefit from a tone yeah. I think both would be useful in this context

How is the Baklengs similar to the Fabrikat? I have the Fabrikat. The Baklengs looks like you have more control vs predetermined algorithms.
@georgesimpson14062 жыл бұрын
Yeh looks like more in depth within a single algorythm that's more customisable but lacking some of the extra modes that fabrikat has

How would you say this is different than the Fabrikat @ambientendeavors? Seems like a lot similar here.
@MarkusJunnikkala3 жыл бұрын
These are just my observations, but it seems to be the love child of Fabrikat and Draume. The granular synthesis options are simplified and specific compared to Fabrikat, and it also has the clock and modulation taken (or similar to) from Draume from what I can hear.
@JoelGilardini3 жыл бұрын
I got first the Bakfram (the Baklengs predecessor) and 1 month later the Fabrikat too. I would say they can both cover some common grounds, but each has its own specialties. Fabrikat has more options having 16 algorithms, you have more looping, freezing/stretching options, and windowing options. Also cool on Fabrikat you have 2 feedback knobs: the Feedback knob which is destructive and LOOP knob which determines how many non-destructive repetition you get (on Bakfram/Baklengs this is combined together on the Loop knob). This said in the end I've kept only the Bakfram: I didn't found the need for all 16 algorithms and parameters the Fabrikat has and I love a lot better Bakfram since it is more easy and intuitive to use. Bakfram thanks to the CLOCK knob can have a longer delay/looping time, which is a plus for me, I like to think of this pedal as a "broken tape loop player"

the biggest thing for me is "approachability" and simplicity. Baklengs has a really straightforward interface and all the sounds I personally need to have a lot of fun right out of the gate. Fabrikat can undeniably do SO much, with all its modes, but I find it gives me more option anxiety, and I don't like having to remember what each control does in each mode. AND, the MOD control is SO GOOD. It's one of my favorite parts of the pedal.
