This is the good stuff. Extrusion-based printing is all well and good but this is the good stuff. This is the real beauty of 3D printing. We need to see more printers built like this so they can get cheaper and easier to acquire.

Could you use a UV curable ink or even glue as the binder and have a UV light scan ahead of the new powder distribution to cure it before the next layer is added? It would also be cool to adapt a pagewide printer so you don't have to have a head moving back and forth.

That is awesome! Those powder printers are definitely the best for Rapid Prototyping!

Congratulations, it'a a great step towards 3D printing for ALL! :D

This type of sintering (3d printing) has been around for years. I have only seen it in my undergrad years where they take a wax binder and 3d print metal objects. They then stick in the part in a furnace to burn off any wax or binder and to heat treat the metal get get the desired grand structure.

This is a great design! I've just researched the possibility of making a DIY SLS printer but this might actually be better because you could theoretically apply colors in the same step.

+ytec3d could u do a vid on filling the print head with the binder

Hey, nice printer. Have you tried printing with silica sand ? I'd love to make sand molds for metal casting with this printer.

@ytec3d how does the gcode activate the print head and software or a simple command line maybe?

Would printing fdm into the powder work ?

Hey ! @ytec3d What software do you use to control?

Hello What type binder do you use?

Tell me please, is it possible to make full color printing here?
@ytec3d9 жыл бұрын
+Happy Stream Show The technique does allow for full color printing, but this printer cannot. It can not handle the type and number of printheads required for full color printing. This is slowly being worked on right now.

+ytec3d That is the whole problem, at this point, the firmware program to the printer?
@ytec3d9 жыл бұрын
+Happy Stream Show The problem is on many fronts. Plan B is mechanically not capable of handling big, full color printheads. The electronics are not powerful enough to handle the raw data of 4 colors in useful resolutions and the software is not yet capable of converting full color files to 3D printer files.

+ytec3d It is very sad. However, we can improve the printer. The thing that I am very interested in creating a cheap full color 3D printer. I think many would like to have a house like this =)
