Happy early birthday Jess! I so enjoy your PWMs, and this one is as stunning as ever. I seem to always be off trend having just gotten back to decorative memory planning after minimal journaling deco for a couple of years 🙃 I do hear you though. Most of what I document is work related or other exciting things like errands and weather😂, so I want to rethink things a bit for next year. Looking forward to fall and the upcoming holiday season. Time is sure flying by!

thank you so much Zolane! hahaha I don’t think decorative memory planning will be off trend anytime soon, but I totally get what you mean 😂 I would be happy to see anything you create in any type of planner or journal, so I’m excited to see what you end up doing!!

Also Jess I have been where you’re. In a way I felt pressured to go to journaling because everyone was doing it and it made sense in my head. However I found it difficult to come up with ideas for spreads and it took me more time to plan because I had to kept figuring out what I’m planning how I’m going to lay it down and I found I went away from stickers completely. Memory planning can be mundane but I love the process of creating something unique and using the beautiful kits and it takes the thought process out sometimes that’s why I’m sticking with it. My job is so busy and chaotic especially being a mum too I need an outlet to be creative but don’t involve too much brain power 😂 xxx

that’s such a good point! I’ve been coming to the thought that bujo would be easier and take less time, but it could easily end up being even more of a time commitment with how extra I am 😂 I’m so glad you’ve come back to memory planning though, your spreads are incredibly unique and lovely 🥰😍

Happy early birthday Jess!! I never got into A5W memory planning, I've always been a decorative pre planner in my functional planner(which keeps changing but always a5 size). The one thing I find hard is that the trends change faster than my wallet can sometimes keep up with 😂 but I do love that the community has moved toward free form decorative planning(journaling) because that opens up the stickers available for me in my daily planning spreads. I am so excited to plan next month because Halloween is my favorite holiday AND it's my moms birthday and we are taking a trip to DR 🎉
@lustrousplansАй бұрын
thank you Kari! hahaha I totally get that. it can be easy to get planner whiplash with how quickly trends change here 😂 I agree, free form journaling just totally opens up the possibilities, because you aren’t limited by a specific format and can use the stickers in any way you want to! ooh have fun in DR!!

This spread is truly incredible. You’re so talented and continue to inspire me. And I’m glad you shared how you’re feeling about your planner journey. I know you’re going to find what you’re looking for. And I’m totally excited next year and bullet journaling. And I feel you, right now being in an A5W doesn’t fit, but I could see myself coming back to it in the future- who knows.

awwww thank you so much 🥹 right back at you!! I will forever credit you and your journey as the inspiration for me giving it an honest try lol. I also can’t wait to see what I come to, bc I currently have no idea 😂😂😂 and yes! things always tend to happen in cycles, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we both end up back in A5Ws by 2026 🥴😂

While I don’t own a sticker shop, I totally understand what you mean about feeling guilty when you’re planning while running a sticker shop. It’s a perpetual problem for those of us who want to be productive so much. I would imagine it’s so much more prevalent when your hobby is your job. So I totally get wanting to find a hobby that is “different” than your job. You should pursue whatever avenue that makes you happy and where you don’t feel pressured to do something because you have been doing it for so long. That’s a lot of mental energy. How you just talked about doing this for four years is reminiscent about how I was feeling about my bullet journal last year. It had been such an integral part of my planner identity that it felt wrong to let it go. I took an extended break where I went super minimal and didn’t chastise myself for not doing things the way I used to or if I skipped a week and that really helped with me returning to bullet journaling in a new way. It's a hard conversation to have with yourself to let something that has felt so integral to your perception of yourself go. I would suggest that maybe just doing the weeks that you are feeling really inspired to do and not worrying about doing the mundane weeks. The font...I don't have a specific name, but I would guess I would be a bouncy type of font with thick downstrokes. Kinda mimics cursive writing, but isn't. Like all the letters connect, but you lift your pencil up. A search of fonts shows that maybe "Study in August font" might be the closest to what I'm thinking. Oh, I guess I should talk about the spread. This is so fun and bright. Perfect for April. Happy early birthday!!!! Me Instagram handle is @phamerina.planning and I am looking forward to doing all of the fall activities (pumpkin picking, hayrides, etc) with my 2 year old.

I'm glad that you understand the feeling! I've always had it to an extent, but I found out the hard way that it was much easier to have boundaries around it when I didn't work for myself, and the job wasn't related to my hobby lollll I think I'm definitely gonna finish out 2024 in my A5W, because I hate the thought of having gaps, but I'm gonna stop putting pressure on myself to have it done by the end of the year. especially if I'm not gonna be doing memory spreads in 2025 (which I'm still not sure about l o l), it'll be nice to have my A5W to plan in when I'm feeling like it! but yes, it really is hard to let go of something that no longer serves you :') ooh I love that font for you! it feels similar to your handlettering font that you do so well, I dig it!! thanks as always for your thoughtful comment

I think sometimes why I struggle with changes in the planner community is because I can't afford to memory plan at the same rate others can, so by the time I'm ready to try something... the whole community has changed, shops have all completely changed/shut down, etc. and it does feel different from other hobbies where it's like... hard to enjoy your style because shops don't keep things if it's not trending whereas other hobbies I feel are a little more consistent? I don't know if that makes any sense and I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes. I also understand that shops don't want to keep or make inventory that isn't selling!
@lustrousplansАй бұрын
I totally get that!! it’s really difficult because planner shops are always working and releasing designs months ahead of the actual time folks will be using their stickers, so by the time that people get to actually use the stickers, shops have moved onto whatever else has struck their fancy 😂 I know I’m guilty of that at least lol. I agree, it’s a unique position our little niche is in because it’s so inconsistent! and keeping items in the shop that haven’t sold well just isn’t feasible unfortunately, but at PTP we do try to give every item at least a few months, because sometimes all it takes is one planner showing how they used a sheet, to inspire other people to give a trend a try haha. it’s tricky! thank you so much for your insight, Melissa!
