Thank you!! I checked those exact caps and my fluke meter showed they were fine. I don't have the fancy esr meter you do.

I have the Peak ESR70. They sell for around $110 USD. Bad caps are a very common cause of electronic failures. This tool was money well spent for me.

Well, I ended up replacing every single electrolytic on the whole power supply board and I keep getting the same thing... Powers up for about half a second and shows the image correctly, then goes blank.

@@jdunne525 If the monitor CCFL backlites turn on for about a second and then go black. The problem is probably a bad backlite or something in the inverter circuit that powers the backlites. A bad backlite or shorted transformer will cause the circuit to draw an incorrect amount of current. The current is automatically measured and if it is out of spec, the backlite circuit will shut down. It is a safety protection. Try using a flashlight up close to see if the screen is actually on but only the backlites are out. If you have 2 of the same model of monitor, you could trouble shot by swapping the power supply/inverter board. If a backlite has gone bad, it is very hard to replace. It is probably best just to scrap it.

@@c.davidgraves4848 Thanks again. It's definitely the ccfl bulbs. Call me stubborn, but I opened up the panel and took a look. Clear signs of a bad cfl with black marks at the ends of the tube. I have 2 of these monitors and I'm pretty sure the second one is not too far from dying also. Real shame the cfl isn't more easily replaced. I've banged this thing up pretty good trying to get it out. Anyways I appreciate the video and the help.

David, I have a Planar 2710 that I hate to throw out. The power stays on for a few minutes then the screen goes dark but the green power light stays on. If I turn it off, then back on, I get the same event. Can I pull the power supply out and send it to you so you can fix it? Let me know.

Hi, I have a planar ur9851 touch screen 98 inch monitor with a broken screen. Any idea on how to tackle this?

By broken, I assume you mean cracked. I do not know any why to repair a cracked screen.
