I knew a couple from Minnesota who told me c. 1974, that they never flew commercial together for the very same reason you're stating. However, this particular incident was a small airplane with 5 people on board. Tragic all around for their survivors.

You post this exact post all the time. Apparently unaware that ALL plane crashes are investigated by the NTSB & when the findings are complete, they are released & discussed at that time. Unfortunately, many are divided between pilot error &/or mechanical issues. He was headed to refuel. Maybe they didn’t have enough to get them there.... Or all the storms that were in the North East on Sun, played a role.... They’re w/our Savior in glory forevermore now.♥✝ I hope their devastated family & loved ones find comfort in knowing that.💔🙏

There's a compelling reason that the FAA does not allow single-pilot planes for pilots over 60 years of age and does not allow multi-pilot planes for pilots over 65. After those ages, flying skills begin to deteriorate. The grandfather piloting this plan was 76. Incredibly tragic and totally avoidable.

I completely agree. There are many things an aged person can do but flying planes is not one of them. The FAA has this rule for a reason. Sadly, overconfidence and perhaps even arrogance can play a role in the decision a 76 yr old man would do this.

I've never been a passenger in a small plane and I never will be regardless of the age of the pilot. He/she could be 40, in the prime of their life, years of experience and flight time, and I'd still never go up in one of these types of planes. They're potato chips with wings. No way...

In Michigan, a father of two only 46 years old died in a small aircraft approx a month ago. I lost my brother and others all in their 40s-50s, in a small aircraft. Age can be a factor, but until we know the facts we don't know the cause.

It’s so sad that this happened my family were friends with his family, I even knew him personally it’s so sad. The only good part is that in his last ever travel baseball game he hit a grand slam and pitched amazing. This is just so sad. I pray for his family 🙏

@@party4keeps28 well, yes and no. Scheduled airline flights (FAR part 121), are safer than driving per passenger mile. However, once you drop into part 121 and part 131 the risks increase (non scheduled air charter). Part 91 (private aircraft, not for hire), has its own distinct risks that, per passenger mile, that make it statistically less safe than driving a car on the highway.

Yes, single engine planes are much, much more dangerous than passenger airlines, but they're still not nearly as dangerous as riding in an automobile. Also, you're very confused as to what constitutes "parts." They're not categories of types of airplanes, they're categories of FAA regulations. Regulations are irrelevant to this conversation. Just look up single-engine, private airplane accident statistics, and compare them to automobile accident statistics. What do you see?

That’s beyond a tragedy. Folks, a pilot friend of mine once told me, “ don’t ever put your entire family on one aircraft.” When my partner and I travel, same place, different flight. You never know. My heart goes out. Hopefully the NTSB and FAA can figure out what happened. No mayday or anything?

Last small plane ride I was on was in 1988. A friend just got his PPL and rented a plane from PDK. Nowadays I hear of multiple small plane crashes daily. I will never fly in them again - give me the big jets. So so sorry to hear of this young family 💔.

I recognize my sight is worsening, and after my hearing test, it is in the moderate- severe loss,, I take ZERO RX, I work Out, I walk, I’m thin,,, but age takes its toll ,, there’s no STOPPING FATHER TIME,,, so we must stop ourselves, put away the pride, and keep safe and others safe too. I totally agree with the age thing. We can be at peace and be at home,,, walk/ pray/ give/ gather,,, do not need to be running around. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏
