@Sidney Mantissa Are you referring to the fact they didn't shut the engine off before landing?
@Kev3764 жыл бұрын
@Sidney Mantissa It's recommended to just keep the engine running and allow the prop strike, because if you overrun the airfield then you can still use the engine to go around for another attempt when you cant get the gear down.
@Kev3764 жыл бұрын
@Sidney Mantissa you must not have a pilots license since your making these recommendations but firstly when you have a problem with the airplane it's always recommended to put your life above the plane, let the plane be the insurances aircraft from the point it fails. Things can happen maybe you get hit with a hard gust or something that makes you uncomfortable, but trying to say a pilot is wrong because he gave himself another layer of safety ( go around capability ) isn't the right answer. I'm not hating on pilots that shut their engines down in this situation, it really is what they are comfortable with. And secondly even if you maintain an airplane up to standards things can still go wrong and I fail to see how that relates to what to do after a problem does happen.
@CipherVR4 жыл бұрын
Main reason to shut down an engine is to try not to prop strike, thus needing an engine overhaul, but even if the engine is shut down the prop will still most likely strike, going through the overhaul anyway. Someone should know that if they apparently have 30k flying experience. You use everything to your disposal to arrive alive and the engine running is definitely one. Especially if you're trying to come in as slow as possible to ride VSO.
@Kev3764 жыл бұрын
@@CipherVR I'm well aware of that fact, but my point is that losing a layer of safety in order to save yourself a buck isn't a choice I would make, and even though people do that. You should check out the video "Why Gear Up Landings Happen" by AVWEB to get others opinions on it.

And if he had to do an emergency go around he might end up in a bad way with an engine off. It’s just equipment. Break it if you have to ensure safety.

Smooth landing. Hope I’ll never ever land without gears down 🙏 did they stop the engine before touchdown to prevent prop and engine damage? Could not see it.
