Great to see a "baby" 747 again.! ( The 747 SP). I usually don't like watching the landings but watching that Avensa 737 and American DC-10 flare and execute those smooth touchdowns, was Perfect !!🥰

@Travel Girl I was a kid/teenager in the 80/90s and sitting in the smoking area while trying to watch a movie in a screen several foots away wasn't glamorous at all. Food was better, I'll give you that.

Back when the 747 was twice the size of any other plane; before the 777, A330/A340, and long before the A380, 787, and A350. Back when there were still many trijets flying about. Back when so many planes still had low-bypass engines. Back when Concord still flew. And... back when you could still go up to an airport gate to watch planes without having to go through security first.

Terrific footage, many thanks for posting! I watch the MIA webcam regularly, and it's shocking how many airlines and airplane types have now vanished from the MIA scene. In 2020, DC8 and B727 freighters only show up once in a blue moon. Great to see that United B747SP at 22:15, though!

That landing shot of the American A300-600 on Runway 12 was really cool. Particularly how much wingflex it had at final approach speed. Very cool wing. This must have been filmed from an airport view balcony at the Hilton hotel. Used to stay there all the time, they had a beautiful Japanese fish pond in the lobby.

An Iberia narrow body?
@CairnTerrier694 жыл бұрын
Iberia actually operated a focus city out of Miami to various Spanish islands and South American destinations. I believe most of the passengers transferred from the 747’s arriving from Spain, but I’m pretty sure they were permitted to carry originating passengers from Miami. Aeroflot had a similar operation in Miami with flights to Deep South America interchanging with Russia flights...as did Air France with routes to the French Carribean...Similar to what Northwest used to do in Tokyo. The arrival of smaller long range jetliners rendered the transit hubs unnecessary.

In this video you see DC-8 and 707 freighters (long gone) while the 727's are hauling passengers and some cargo have now come and gone as freighters :( Meanwhile you still see some A300's still flying for UPS and Fedex.
@ELcinegatto87 Жыл бұрын
Thankfully the UPS A300s will be around for at least another 15-20 years. They got a handful of the last ones to come off the assembly line at Toulouse back in 2007. Fedex also got quite a few that last year as well. Big reason why they bought a bunch of 767s was they couldn't order more A306Fs. Amazing airplane, 300,000lbs+ and goes in and out of BUR and SNA's tiny runways like nothing. I do miss the Fedex A310s and UPS DC-8-72Fs though. The re-engined DC-8s sounded fantastic. Tampa Cargo used to fly them all the time into MIA.
