I used to fly out of Cranfield (PPL/IR with own aircraft).. I was based there with my Piper Arrow PA28-R (G-GYMM) before I sold the plane to a club in Gloucester ... apparently it was subsequently "written off" after a hard landing at Shobdon which sent the landing gear up through the wing spars. It seems that the aircraft was rapaired in Jersey, and was subsequently resold to a flying club in Sweden where she is still flying to this day under registration SE-MLI

I actually used to live not far from the CIT NDB so would often watch the CabAir students flying the approaches.
@Leland_Iko_Music3 ай бұрын
The approach to 03 via the CIT was always fun (at the time it was still 04 though) -- Low approach to 22 (21 now) / Circle to land. One time I did an IFR flight from Cranfield to Norwich and ATC gave me "STONY WELYN" departure, which was not an official SID .. fortunately I had the chart for the CabAir training SID so was able to fly it with the DME arc to WELYN .. but I could very well have requested direct WELYN... didn't want to disrupt the CabAir students though.

Hello mate, I always got confused about departures without a specific clearance (IE information or Radio AD). Although flying IFR, would you be able do depart Turweston in genuine IMC? I ask since the initial departure looked visual. I feel like they didn't teach me this stuff in my IR!

Great airplane. Great nice video. But a long checklist on the Cirrus. Burns a lot of fuel before you get rolling.
@PlaneOldBen3 жыл бұрын
Compared to some other types I don’t think it burns much fuel at all!

Ben, just out of curiosity how long would it take to go 650nm in the vision jet? With average weather. Thanks
@TheFlyingReporter3 жыл бұрын
Enjoyed the video. Seemed to be a lot of power fluctuations while on auto-throttle. Is that normal?
@PlaneOldBen3 жыл бұрын
It was due to the aircraft being so light, only needed a low thrust setting to maintain VApp then it overcompensates slightly due to the spool time of the engine from low RPM. There were also some thermals around affecting it too.

Nicely operated Ben, but where has all the fun gone? Much button pressing but very little hand flying. I guess this is the way it is going now thanks to wonderful avionics and autopilots. Even if you were incapacitated one press of a button wold take you safely to the nearest suitable airfield. I’d just like to see you appearing to enjoy it a little more !

It’s the synthetic vision building in roughly where the centreline would be.
