I don't know if I would be able to do all of that! I certainly would have to buy all of the tools as well! 😉

The gear pullers sure came in handy! I will be using them again on the little bearings at the bottom of the columns tomorrow as well!

Great job Mojo! I've never fixed anything that big in my life! It's going to be so cool seeing this thing go back together again and actually run!

Thanks Larry and a happy Winter Solstice to you as well! We really look forward to this day around here. Even though it's the first day of Winter - it seems to be all down hill from here 😊

That new cutterhead looks pretty awesome! What is the benefit of having all of those little knives?
@TrapDoorWoodworks4 күн бұрын
There are several: the first - and most valuable to me - is that a nick in a single knife only takes minutes to change instead of hours. With the long knives, you would shift that kicked knife (or all three lives) in a process that takes a very long time. With this system, you just rotate the nicked cutter and you're done. Changing the cutter completely if necessary just takes minutes. Second is that the cutterheads are carbide, and will stay sharp longer. Third: the knives are indexed and need no adjustment. Fourth: The chips created by this cutterhead will not clog the ductwork. They take little bites that are sucked away immediately, instead of long strips that can easily tangle into a plug that will clog the ductwork. It is also a bit quieter, but even at that, the sound is more pleasant than the alternative. It is really a night and day difference! 😊

Lucky those gears were in good shape, you would never be able to find new ones!

I agree! A few may be 'off the shelf' but I am guessing the rest are custom made, and are out of production 🤔
