Man, I could've hung out in those hangers ALL DAY LONG! Your EAA videos, were some of my favorites!

Excellent! I love history too. Being able to travel the country in your RV to visit things of significant importance/interest would be very exciting to me.

Hey, a wing rider, LOL at 4:00. Love it! Great tour! Fun to see the planes running! Now, here's going out of your way... but if you ever make it to McMinnville, OR... check out the Evergreen Museum. It houses The Spruce Goose, the largest airplane ever constructed. It was the wooden plane that the eccentric Howard Hughes built!.......... Also, the The Hill Aerospace Museum near Ogden Utah is worth checking out :)

Thanks for the suggestions - I used to go visit the Goose when it was here in Long Beach, CA and we're planning on visiting it again when we go north! If you remember the KZbin video, that building was one of the building in which they built that plane. Pretty amazing.

You guys need to go to the air force museum at Wright Patterson in Dayton OH. It's easy to get to right of I-70
@Weretherussos8 жыл бұрын
We passed right by it but didn't have the time to stop...its on our list though to see.

@3:46 as soon as I saw the concave nose and the beautiful stainless steel skin I thought "Sabrejet : And later when you mentioned the "F-86" I put two and two together. It was the first US swept wing fighter plane and was one of the best jets in the Korean War. The cost of one in 1950: about $180,000 US

It was really awesome being able to see a couple of them at the museum and then watch one get pushed out and then actually fly!

if you ever get back to Ohio, (Port Clinton southern tip of Lake Erie near Cleveland) check out Liberty Aviation Museum its small but good. Lots of Ford Tri-motor stuff and Old warbirds. Attached is a Retro Diner with good food. We were there a couple of years ago and they were restoring a Ford Tripmotor. Museum is on an active runway. Some good places to go in the area too that i think you guys would like.

Very cool, thank you for the suggestion. They were giving rides in a Tri-Motor at the Oshkosh Air Show, very cool to see and hear that plane take off and fly around!

Have you guys been to the Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH? If you love planes and aviation history, that's your Happy Place! They have four HUGE hangers full of everything from the Wright Brothers to space travel and everything in between. Too much to list! They also have a 3-hour behind the scenes tour (reservations required); we saw the Memphis Belle in restoration. My daughter got to see her favorite plane, the B-2, while I got to walk on board the Air Force One that brought President Kennedy's body home. Take the free guided tours! These guys are full of history and knowledge and clearly love what they're doing (For free! They're volunteers.) Hundreds of planes, literally. Hundreds. Go there. Seriously. Enjoy it. You're welcome. ;)

I see others have recommended this Museum, too. It's at Wright Patterson but it's outside the gate. Go during the week and plane two days minimum. It gets super crowded on the weekend, not as fun.

+Tracy Hathaway thanks and the museum sounds great! We actually drove past it but didn't have time to stop. We'll have to make our way back there and plan a few days to go through it. It sounds a lot like Pima Air Museum which is HUGE!

Hey Russos, The jet hit by the missile was a QF-100 Super Sabre Drone. It was hit in an AIM-120 missile test and if memory serves me it ended up executing a forced landing. I believe it swapped hands a few times before ending up at the museum. Edit: Here is the full story of this jet www.fabulousrocketeers.com/Photo_F100_3.htm

Did you notice if the Me-109 had the Daimler or the Hispano engine?
@Weretherussos8 жыл бұрын
+Todd Reimer I believe it was the Hispano but they had another one there that is going to be restored, not sure which engine.

Great video! Another one of my bucket list destinations! By the way, many of the Hispano Buchon HA-1222/Me-109G fighters were featured in the Battle of Britain movie from 1969 (lots of great aerial footage.) The F-100 (5)63141 with the damaged tail is a former target drone. This is a link to a page with photos of the aircraft throughout its service life by the son of its pilot: www.fabulousrocketeers.com/Photo_F100_3.htm
