GLASGOW'S WORST HOTELS: Surprising terrible results according to Tripadvisor reviews.

I love looking at 'Terrible' reviews on Tripadvisor. I wondered, based on this review, what the top 10 (or should I say bottom ten) worst hotels in Glasgow were. Some were predictable, but quite a few were a complete surprise to me. There was a good reason why I couldn't/wouldn't stay at the worst hotel in Glasgow.

Having stayed in the Millenium Hotel many years ago (convenient for catching the 6.30am train to Fort William) I think it will always be noisy. The rooms at the front face George Square and the rooms at the back face Queen Street station. You're so right about guests who fail to notice in the hotel brochure that there is no lift, but still complain on Trip Advisor. Looking forward to the ten best hotels.

We had a great stay at the Devoncove, staff were friendly and attentive, it was a base for other things we were doing so only in the hotel mornings and late evening but no complaints regarding staff or cleanliness of room. Barman at night was a joy, courteous and generous with whisky measures, he was also a mine of information. Both myself and my wife would gladly return.

Have stayed at the EasyHotel. Many a time. It's perfectly fine. No issues. Last time I stayed I have no windows in my room. But all I needed was a bed. So didn't bother me. That was few years ago.

I was searching for good restaurants here in Belgium and reading Tripadvisor I noticed that many of them where I had been and got a good experience now get bad reviews post-Covid. As if because of the lockdowns all the trained and experienced staff had gone away, never came back and had been replaced by anyone they could find. Add to that owners who try to recuperate 2 lost years of income at the expense of the customers. Increased prices for less service. I fear the same may be true for hotels.

I have stayed in four of these hotels I was in The Dovecourt I myself had no issues with hotel. I also stayed in both the Smith hotel and the Victoria these two I booked a cheap room where I had to share the bathroom but in all these three hotels I found the breakfast was ok. I also stayed in the St Enoch hotel but this was some 37 years ago as I was homeless back then, I have often thought of booking a room in here just for the memories, but I think I give it a miss. Keep up up your good work on yes on the other end of the hotel I stayed in Hilton city hotel a bit of a contrast from the St Enoch hotel.

" .... appeared to have rooms rented by the hour" 😀. I have to say as a single traveller I've learned to utterly detest staying in hotels (yes even the good ones) because in dining areas you invariably become invisible to staff - this was reinforced to me a couple of weeks ago when I had no choice but to stay in a hotel near Oban. Give me a bnb any time: the owners treat all their guests equally and don't see guests as an impediment to the smooth running of their business.

I used to work in the Buchanan Hotel on buchanan St before it was demolished for more shops. The hotel was pretty run down but it was always priced reasonably and clean. I've always found trip advisor a negative site and some reviews were totally inaccurate. More often than not a customer would complain directly to the hotel and the hotel would then do everything to resolve the issue. For a customer to then follow that up with negative online reviews is unreasonable imo.

At least 3 of your hotels are primarily used as emergency homeless accommodation hence the issues. The owners care about the money they receive from the council which has made them incredibly profitable. I pity any normal person who is duped into thinking these are reputable hotels.

It was a long time ago, but I think that last one is the one I stayed at when I was there. I remember them asking me how many hours I wanted the room for. i stayed at the youth hostel. they don’t have early check in but they do let you drop off your luggage in a storage room. No problem as this was done in the morning. After getting checked in the evening the route to the storage had no light. It was absolutely pitch black After searching the walls for a light switch I gave up and returned to the reception and asked for a torch. The room I stayed in didn’t have a charging socket at every bed. Still handy for Partick Thistles ground and is in a great location

It's a shame that St Enoch has come to be represented by that notorious hotel, but also in a way fitting, since she was Scotland's first known rape victim, battered woman and unmarried mother. As Thenew, she was the daughter of the King and Queen of Gododdin (Lothian) and through the latter grand-daughter of Uther Pendragon. Her son became St Mungo, the most magical of saints, and posthumous founder of Glasgow. He is represented by the city's cathedral: her lost grave and chapel were near the hotel.

For someone who worked in hospitality and tourism for years you should be applauding real world reviews and videos like this that warn people to allow them to give their hard earned money to well run businesses and not tolerate poor service/sub standard establishments. Most of the videos this guy produces provides video tours of many of these houses of horror so far from “having too much time on his hands” or being “a busy body” he’s actually providing those of us on a budget a useful service. Plagiarism: "Presenting someone else's work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work *without* full acknowledgement." The fact you heard from the video, and was made fully aware, these ratings were based on Tripadvisor feedback, shoots your plagiarism accusation to pieces, doesn't it? Thanks for your comment though, because every comment, good or bad, helps the video be picked up by KZbin's algorithms, helping it to become a recommended video.
