Your friendly neighbourhood game dev here! The clipping textures is called Z-fighting which in layman's terms is caused by overlapping surfaces and the game can't decide which one should be shown - so it tries to show both! Z-Fighting is a very common issue that can be quite hard to fix, especially in a UGC centric game like Planet Coaster! :)

I always thought it was weird that each poly didn't have an auto-incrementing z-index equivalent to settle z fighting. But I'm guessing detecting two polygons on the occupying the same space would be costly and so they don't do it.

Please add these features!!! 1. Two platform management with an alternating switch track between parallel platforms allowing for double throughput. 2. Separate loading / unloading zone 3. Unloading finishes before all passengers exit through the one small gate. For example mirror the entrance gates to the other side to speed up dispatch. 4. Allow us to treat coasters as transport rides with multiple stations on the loop. It would be a separate ride mode. 5. Good track smoothing that keeps the heartline of the track. 6. Dynamic ride ops: Brings more trains on the track when the que gets long. There could be trigger markers on the que to bring on extra trains from the depot. 7. Coaster depot / maintenance building. 8. Custom drop, swing, roll, switch track. Could have a track position 1 and 2 and the sim animates between them in any axis or orientation. 9. Better track support modeling (it should not just disappear if there is an obstruction, it should find a path around it or link to other supports. 10. Bring planet zoo into planet coaster. We could have a hybrid coaster park / zoo. Or coasters going through exhibits. Comment if you agree!

They probably won't do the zoo thing, since that's a different game that they can market to a different demographic and make more money. But I agree with the rest of your points!

When building pathways I would like to have an option to automatically generate path extras like lighting, benches, trash bins and maybe trees, bushes & planters in accordance with the park theme!

First 50 seconds speak to me - why is there so little variation with the core aspect of the game - especially the flat rides, like my themeparks are full of different designs and experiences with the same damn 5-10 flat rides

Well with being able to add scenery to flat rides, that will change. Yes the rides will be the same, but the themeing and style you give it will be different! This will fix a good bit of whats wrong with the flatrides in PlanCo 1

Actually Busch Gardens and SeaWorld both have stations that stop the rapids boats at the station just like planco. So there is real world precedent. Hersheypark used to have a rapids ride with a turntable but has since been removed. I use to work there and got lots of exercise by walking against that turntable! A few times employees got stuck on the boat helping guests with their seatbelts! Was funny watching them return to the station soaked to the bone! 😂

I like this list. My additional list: 1. Re-emphasizing better pathing because it'll save so much time and frustration. 2. Let us toggle floor pieces to become functional paths. 3. Improved terrain sculpting. 4. More options for terrain texturing and painting, especially cliffs. 5. Incorporate petting zoo animals from Petting Zoo. 6. Get rid of circles for power. Hiding generators isn't fun. Let us hook up power connections like real parks. 7. Painting zones for staff. I hate how maintenance and cleaning staff function compared to RCT3.

@@xeno_mania the ones from Planet Zoo. I know it's not specific to Planet Coaster, but there was mention of power management, and I don't want the PZ nonsense continued in any Planet game.

3 things: 1. You can customize outside the white line, (or no line at all) in PC1 you can do this only in custom scenario mode, but why not anywhere else like sandbox mode? 2. Instead of choosing terrain textures, why not just have all of them available? 3. Just a small thing. But I would like them to remove those dumb platforms, the ones that animatronics stand on. With the polls up their butts.

for 1, im pretty sure the white line is meant to be the park boundary, so i dont see them letting you build paths, stations, or flat rides outside the line, but i would guess they would let you add ride track and scenery outside the park if they add this feature

They would have to add dynamic ride breakdowns for that but that would be really cool. They would have to change the block section system to, if you don’t have a midcourse break run the train stops at the top of the lift hill if the block zone is not clear.

Speaking of more realistic loading procedures, I would love to see them incorporate ride operators and attendants as a staff type in the management system! I think there's a lot of potential for customizing ride operator procedures, and it could add a whole new layer to the game's staff system.

As appealing as the idea of individual ride operators and attendants is, they at least can be relied on to stay with the ride and keep it open in the current version. I have enough trouble with shop attendants and all other staff getting fed up and quitting on me. 😊

I also want a more realistic economy where guests will actually pay more than 40 dollars to enter your park, that way making a entry fee only park is more do-able. Also making it so guests don’t all swarm out of queue lines the second a ride breaks down. It would be cool to see when a ride breaks down some guests will wait it out and some will leave after a certain amount of waiting, that way it’s more realistic to real parks.

Another thing I hope they also add is a motion simulator ride with types from rides like The Simpsons ride, Star Tours, they could also have a track system like the scoop ride vehicle and a way you can control the movement of the tracker rides so you don’t have to use the arrow thing to move the cart, and a splash boat ride from River Adventure, and that all I got

speaking of log flumes, we also need to be able to make the bottom of the drop larger for all water ride models, so it doesn't end up pulling 7g's if you want a bigger drop

It'd be kind of cool if you could design your own avatar or character and then be able to place them in your own theme park to walk around freely and possibly interact with guests. Just something I'd thought be cool.

Great list! I also want to add: -a calendar system so we can plan out special events and holidays in the park. -a setting to change how fast time moves in sandbox mode. It goes way too fast. -in addition to shows, I want parades and the ability to schedule showtimes. This could tie into the calendar I mentioned above.

I know this is maybe a little too similar to planet zoo but I’d love to see a few animal exhibits so you can do something like Busch Gardens and Sea World or even just have a small petting zoo type area. It doesn’t have to be as in depth as PZ but it’d be cool to see

Former Disney world entertainment cast member here! Definitely shows and entertainment! You should be able to have the option to decide whether the mascots roam or have a dedicated meet & greet spot with a queue and priority queue line! More animatronic and entertainer variety too!

How about this: MORE DINOSAUR-BASED THEMES. A *MAIN* selling point of the first game, to me anyway, was Gulpy. He was awesome, and It made me so excited to see what kind of theming he could fit in, maybe some jungle dinosaur setting with animatronic dinosaurs? What about a rollercoaster with a dinosaur shape? You wanna know what they put in? NOTHING. Yep, That's Right! Gulpy is the ONLY dinosaur-themed anything in Planet Coaster. So, it's a long-awaited thing for me. I heard somewhere they were gonna add like an ancient theme? GOD I hope Gulpy gets the theme he deserves. The man's on the bloody cover of EVERYTHING Planet coaster, so #JusticeForGulpy

I hope they include some of these ideas! We can dream can't we?? 1. Train crossings at paths and the free ability to place them. Crossing gates and signals for trains. Ability for trains to run both directions on tracks and have it be controllable. Also variable speed through out the length of track. 2. Custom switching train tracks. This would allow for multiple train routes within a park. 3. Bring back the street cars / trams from RCT2! 4. Transfer tracks for boarding stations (I'm sure everyone wants this)... 5. Building tool set for paths, fences, scenery items. Example.. Line tool, Spline Tool, Filet Tool, Shape Tool (circle, rectangle), Scale Tool. Similar tools to CAD. 6. More shop options for Food, Drink, Merch etc. 7. More plants, trees and other vegetation options! 8. The ability to create and customize a guest and "virtually" visit your own park and have money to spend and ride the rides. 9. Dynamic Weather or the ability to adjust it on the fly. 10. More realistic water effects ex, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, streams, etc. Also have better control of the depth of the water when the simulation "adds" the water on placement. Ability to have shallow ponds, streams, etc. 11. Don't limit ground textures on sandbox parks to 8. MAKE THEM ALL AVAILABLE TO US ON A SANDBOX MAP.... 12. Would love to see simulated back of house areas ex delivery trucks, trash trucks, etc. 13. VR compatibility would be a total game changer! 14. Timeline for ride triggered events. 15. More font styles for signs and 3d letter & number scenery pieces from the start. 16. Elevators for Guests to use to eliminate the need for extra pathing for large height differences. Escalators too?

These are all nice features to add. Are the devs accepting feature requests? here is my list of features I want 1.more vintage rides 2. the ability to customize the theme of flat rides 3.more movie props of trains to create say, a subway crash or a high speed train derailment in a movie , among others 4. props of military hardware like boats,helicopters,tanks,and fighter jets and much more. 5. the ability to create a waterpark with many slides, lazy rivers, wave pool, Schlitterbahn's version of a lazy river. 6. more kid rides and the ability to customize the kids area 7. more ride types and vehicle customization.

Being able to make an extended queue similar to how Disney or Universal does it. For example, you could have a staff member holding a sign at the end of an extended queue for when ride queues fill up. I think that would be sick!!

For me I want more Pirate themed pack, more Autumn, Winter, and pioneer esk. I also want them to fixate on the amazing style of something like Blizzard Beach (the water park 🏖️ at Disney) with splashpads, themed clean ride design, and fake terrain that works out really well with both blending into real terrain and also feeling stylistically clean and safe. I also want a less lifeless lighting and different weather phenomenons. I couldn't agree more with the idiocy of guests appearing from the entertainment portal straight from hell, and as well as ....the other one you mentioned previously let me go back

It would be amazing if you could operate your own coasters through the control panel. Even if it was just opening and closing the gates, locking the restraints and dispatching the coaster it would still be so cool!

Great video! Just subscribed. Looking forward to more Planco 2 content from you. One thing I REALLY want to see is an FX Coaster like Mission Ferrari or Escape from Gringott's with crazy sideways drops, turntables, tilt tracks, and drop tracks.

What I really miss right now in both Planet games: cutting in terraforming. Just straight edges from top to bottom, textured with some simple dirt or rock on the side. Simply by placing fencing (like walls) which can hold the tool and will allow you to push some land against it, without any gaps of like a metre slant like you will get now. Where walls will separates the action you do on either side of the wall, and you can fill up one side and lower the other (a simple hotkey/shortcut can help disable that and let you ignore fences if you want and terraform across). And when walls are deleted, you will be left with some land that’s just cut open.. Also pathing could work well with this, so you don’t have some margin anymore when you are digging the earth around it.

I would love the option of a universal grid to snap elements together. You could definitely over-use it and end up with a very artificially square park, but used carefully it could make the whole experience so much easier. It would also make it easier for beginner/basic players who maybe don't mind if their whole park is on a grid, but saves the frustration of trying to align your path to the fence to the coaster! I'm not sure I want a whole load of near-identical flat rides, I'd much rather be able to customise them a lot more! I don't need "Dumbo" next to "Flying Carpets" next to "Astro Orbitor" in the menu, I want to start with a spinner ride and choose smaller or larger, choose the cars, decorate it... save the blueprint if I'm pleased with it. Give me the range of mechanics, not the individual attractions, I guess! I LOVE the idea of marking out a path zone to make a plaza, it'd be so much easier to use... the other pathing thing would be a "memory" so if you add to a path, then delete it, the path goes back to its previous state rather than recalculating its layout... idk if that's just me dealing with so much frustration getting things wrong, deleting them, then it's even worse than before!

I’d love for a “visit your park” function. Say they have added all of these features here, even adding all the extra attraction types like mini golf/midway games, realistic ride breakdowns. Wouldn’t it be a blast to go just roam your park and experience it in real time, pivots in wait times thanks to downed rides, having to spend the money the guests have on the rides, having a hunger/thirst meter to have to maintain to see how you can appropriately staff and adjust pricing on everything in the park to get guests of whatever demographic to keep visiting your park.

For the show theatres/arenas, i think that would be a good addition to planet zoo aswell, i can imagine hundreds of people sitting down at an arena to watch dolphins do tricks etc

On the custom supports, perhaps support sliders. Type of support, thickness of support, how many, etc. Could provide a middle ground between accepting stock supports and going full custom. Or once they are placed automatically be able to delete support pieces individually so you can make small changes.

Phantasialand has a Conveyor Belt Station on the Rapid, and there are Log Flumes with Rotating Stations as well like one in Bobbejaanland. Speaking of Rotating Stations, would be nice to have those on some Boat Rides as well, Fata Morgana at De Efteling has that.

I'd like to add "more realistic loading for Ferris wheels and similar rides". In RCT3 and Planco 1 all gondolas are loaded at once; guests would enter the area, disappear, then reappear in a gondola. RCT1 &2 have realistic loading (load the cars that are in the station, then rotate the wheel, then load the next cars, and so on), so it can be done. It's for this reason that I never use the wheels in RCT3 and Planco1.

Thx for this vid. I totally agree with everything on your wish list. I'd like to add the possibility to 'connect' PC2 with Planet Zoo as Atari/Frontier once did it with RCT3, Soak and Wild. I'm not 100% sire, but from the looks of it, PC2 uses the same engine as Planet Zoo.

So many things from RCT3 would be great to see in Planet Coaster 2. Even in RCT3, the path system wasn't amazing, but it was great for what the game allowed, and you could at least make giant plazas which is not something that can be easily done in Planet Coaster.

The throughput of planco rides is already kinda bonkers. 30s interval is basically unheard of outside of fancy loading stations but it's pretty easy to achieve in planco on a coaster. 60-120s is much more realistic. I pretty much always have to force the coaster to wait if I want a more realistic coaster and even then it's often 30-40s rather than the 50-70s min dispatch interval that is common with most coasters. I think the car parking is a really neat idea, but also the ability to add or make scenarios with more methods of getting guests to the park like bikes, or even metro or regional train would be really cool. Universal Studios Japan for example. Or just a little bus stop or station. I think this would be the biggest ask though. You're getting into lane systems and traffic management, and there are whole games built around those things. Ghost trains would be a pretty easy and realistic breakdown to implement. They are very common and often cause trains to stop in strange places. All it would take would be stopping a train at the end of a block even though the next block is clear, then allowing the rest of the trains to stack up behind it or behind the station. I really hope the ride operators are like the other employees in the next game, with happiness and different animations depending on their mood, and maybe faster or slower dispatches depending on their mood and skill level. It would also be neat to be able to choose the staffing level for the ride. Is this a two person op or is this an 8 people checking bars + driver + separator + greeter + supervisor kind of ride.

The first rapids did use a system like Planet Coaster's, but using duel stations to improve capacity. The design is a bit flawed though, as can be seen with the recent incident on SFOT's Roaring Rapids, hence why they switched to the turntable.

With the announcement of a first-person camera being fully integrated and not an easter egg in placo 2, I'm really hoping for a lot of the guest centered features you mentioned here. Pathway triggers, (pressure plates, buttons, or levers,) water/laser/BB gun stations, walkthrough attractions, arena and queue shows, shop interiors, and improved interior lighting and building would be so wonderful to see, even if they're not included in launch. As fun as the rides are, I feel that it's always the small details and odd quirks off the beaten path that give a park it's personality. Semi-related but I'd also love a season pass and returning guest system. It'd be cool to see what percent of guests returned for a second visit, the average number of visits, which guest visited your park the most, what percent of guests are passholders and how many visitors upgrade their pass. It'd really set apart the local landmarks and the worldwide tourist destinations. Lastly, though it's probably a pipe dream, I'd love some sort of logic system implemented to make rides and attractions really interactive.

Busch Gardens Tampa has a rapids ride with a dual loading station that stops each car linearly. There's a chain instead of an air gate though.

nice list, but hopefully we have a maintence switch track, and the trains that we do not need to be put there, hopefully this will be in the game and what about actual staff checking your seatbelts.

I'm hoping with the addition of weather and the fact that friction manipulation was already in planet Coaster 1, that weather can change the coaster friction and potentially cause breakdowns by say valleying the train and if the train does valley the refurbish cost need to be paid to reopen the ride. Probably sounds like an annoying feature but id find it fun knowing which rides you have to close during certain weather patterns.

For paths I think it should stay generally the same with some quality of life improvements and add a fill tool so if grass gaps appear then you can fill it

ex Game dev here, it is possible for frontier to save the coordinates of a object or blue print with the planet zoo engine which is what there using for planco2 as this version of cobra has world textures. World textures need a world origin point of 0.0.0 to work Because, of the organic moss rocks. The game keeps track of the object your placing in the worlds cords so the engine can apply the world texture to it. So yes they can save the world coordinates of a blue print. It just wasn't seen as useful because then no one else could use your blue print as the terrain maybe different in the next guys map. I think they should just add a option in the blueprint menu to toggle saving the world coordinates. And then another prompt when you load the blue print to select yes or no on if you want to use the blue prints coordinates. Another thing not mentioned is, we must have tmtk but it needs to not have any restrictions on it. And, it needs to be a lot less time consuming to convert fbx to ugc. Hell, if we could do that inside the game. Instead of a separate online compiler that would be awesome.

We need the pathing system Frontier used in Jurassic World Evolution 2. -Allows you to place the path anywhere, closing green spaces. -Has a 90 degree function. -Path carries on the previous angle used. All round, this would be great to see implemented in Planco 2 (Watch a video to truly understand what I mean!)

I too really want functional parking because i hate the element of needing to cover up the cave, making a parking lot and road manually and then having the guests spawn out of some building before i finally can start making my park. Parking feels like a chore to me but they could make it into something fun

Some of the things in here have already been revealed to be in Planco 2, namely improved pathing (especially when it comes to plazas) and the improvements to priority queue and possibly single rider queue. Also smoothing has been improved according to the early showcase some content creators got. Also Z-fighting is extremely hard to fix and isnt that big of an issue.

I’d like to see them clean up the coaster menu. In the last one they separated it by train type but then still gave you the option to change the train later. But for example there should be one button to select a wooden coaster. Then ones you start building you can select the train and break type. And this could be done with all coasters. Another example. One button for Inverted coaster. Once you select it then you can choose the track type and the train.

My number 1 will always be better optimization. If the game advertises you to be able to build the park of your dream, you should be able to build a park the size of cedar point/universal and also handle the amount of guests those parks typically get without your pc dying to 5 fps

Planet Coaster was a great game for it's time. 8 years have past and Planet Coaster 2 needs to be as ground breaking as Planet coaster was. I can see Frontier profiteering with DLC packs and not making the main game as good as they could. I do hope I'm wrong. Frontier please don't let us down

I just want RCT3 but in PlanCo! Coasters, water slides, animals all together! Is that too much to ask for? Also, real ride names - B&M Hyper as opposed to the weird names they use. I often forget which is which. Able to connect multiple drop towers with one single queue (Supreme Scream @ Knott’s Berry Farm) Moving sidewalks would be cool. Being able to access a USB drive on console to use custom photos/art for billboards. Same for custom music. Create custom character and be able to walk through the parks in real time. Tours and VIPs Shows: dolphin show/ Wild West show, movie stuns show. Etc.

Even before Planet Coaster existed I had always hoped the next RCT game would simply have a path brush, so you can just draw paths like other terrain textures. The system in Planet Coaster is not great, and a shape-drawing thing you mentioned could be cool, but I don't see why it's not just a brush and why nobody seems to mention that as an option.

Did you know two tall drop like rides can in be built taller so they sort of already achieved the adjustable size coding for such a thing so yeah hope we have even more control of it and not just DLC ones.

My prediction is that they are going to have a pretty bare base game and will release more, but smaller DLC like they do with Planet Zoo. So eventually the game will be more than what PlanCo, just not for a while and not for cheap.

few things that are already confirmed. better smoothing will be in the game. frontier actually reworked it in the timespan of planet zoo's devenlopment. the pathing will also be in the game. they tried to incorperate it in planet zoo but it wasnt finished by the time of the release. tho a few things were in planet zoo, like that u can use scenery objects as paths for bridges for example. custom coaster trains can be made withing the game. similar to custom themed flatrides that were in the trailer. things i want that u havent mentioned in the video multiple stations, not just for un/load stations, but for mobius/duel coasters. already themed shops, like in the rct games. open air shops save blueprints with pathing a park with theoratically infinite space, i noticed that for some of my projects that i dont have enough space greater general height limits for terrain costers a way to automatically link terrain with the track (would make it way easier for coasters like silvaretts jägerhorn to be built) a way to create a completely custom made coaster track. multiplayer like openrct allows it. a modding api released by frontier

There are waterrides with gates and stopping boats, but they are VERY rare... Fastracks they need to be like "separate queues", and they would work fine. Right now made no sense... I agree with parking, but also want some public transportation options (bus, train) in order to push for more guests Drop towers, and other tower rides MUST be heigh editable... No way they are just plopables in 2024...

In terms of what I would want to see added VR/Motion Simulator rides The ability to create proper water coasters More mascots Proper park transport systems Entertainment shows Different types of pools (kiddie, wave, swimming etc) Proper Dark Rides With waterslides the ability to choose between regular or tube Flexibility in waterslide types and design. Do you think we could have the option to have tubes at the beginning of the slide path entrance and guest have to get one from there go up with it then use it on the slide, or maybe a tube elevator that takes the tubes from the bottom pool and puts them on an elevator all the way to the top (possibly for larger tubes, like rafts?). And we will have to buy each tube and there is a risk of the tubes popping and deflating. Do you think we could get these features? Do you also think we will be able to have pool lights?

I'd love if the maps aren't just perfectly flat. Instead of different maps only having different backgrounds, you choose the terrain type. Making your own terrain is really not fun. Id't make parks look more interesting.

I really feel that all the long time players all want the game to be more complex, which is nice for you, but I'm more of a casual player and I don't want to be building my park and suddenly get a notification that my Car park is full. If they were to add something like that they would either have to make it VERY simple to not impact performance, because the game would need to keep track of potentially hundreds of cars and visitors at the same time which eats into the performance, or they would have to lock it behind a difficulty setting so casual players can just avoid using it. I also think that some of the ideas you mentioned in regard to, like better ride breakdowns and switch tracks. It probably depends on how the coaster system works in planco 2, because the codebase potentially just doesn't allow for things like that. same goes for transfer tracks, backstage and theaters Also, we should ask ourselves: How much does a certain feature add to the game experience and for whom? does it enhance the experience of the new and casual players that want an easy, relaxing game, or that of the Longtime “Pro” players that want a as complex as possible and realistic game. It's always a compromise. You need to make things easy to use and learn for new players, while adding more complexity for the old ones. If game devs only listened to the old players and just added complexity, it could scare off new players, basically gatekeeping the community. like "NO CASUALS AND NOOBS ALLOWED!!!" that's why I think that all the long time players should at least think about what potential impact a wishlist item could have for people that are not pros or have never even touched planco 1. For non-game devs (that includes me) it can be hard to grasp how difficult the implementation of certain features is because just because it sounds easy it may very well not even be possible on a technical or engine level. It's all about the interaction of all the systems that may even interact in ways invisible to the player. Programming can be complex, and the Cobra engine may have limitations that don't allow for certain features to be added at all, we just don't know enough about it. Sorry for this long rant, but I have had this feeling for a long time now, that all the long time players only think about how frontier could make the game better for them but don't consider the implications for New players enough. what i want to say is think about, is this feature just a cool nice to have or is it something that actually makes a better game. Also think about what it means for optimization, This game needs to run on console from day one. So the game can't afford things that may look cool but serve no purpose other than for example make the spawning of guest look cooler, which then creates dozens of objects like cars that just sit around and eat memory because the game needs to keep track of position in the parking lot, velocity if driving, number of occupants etc. and the game needs to constantly check for arriving cars and leaving cars. Ok now to finally finish this wall of text. You do suggest some cool features, but I don't think that all of them are a good idea from an accessibility standpoint for new players or even possible from a technical or performance standpoint. Just because it sounds cool or easy in your head doesn't mean that it is. ok but now enough of this, not sure if you will bother reading through this, i just needed to put this into words for once. This is not meant as criticism of you specifically but kinda of the gaming community as a whole as this is also a problem with other games. Thanks for coming to my TED talk and have a great day. :D
