Planet Coaster - Death Star Space Coaster

Come to the dark side. We have coasters.
Keep in mind: this coaster was made during alpha - by now, the game's full release has much more content and options than at the time this coaster was built.
A pretty intense coaster actually - a a huge, sprawling Gerstlauer Eurofighter exploring every corner of a new Death Star under construction.
Rudi built the shell of a Death Star for his Star Wars 1.1 park and asked me if I'd like to build a coaster inside of it. I saw the opportunity to theme the inside to make it into a Sci-fi indoor coaster and took it. After many hours of work from the both of us, this is the result.
The final alpha video - and perhaps a bit poorly planned because we don't even have a sci-fi theme yet! A lot of the beams here are either wood or coaster tracks/supports; though it was a fun added challenge to create the illusion of space ship machinery.

Great design. I was having a hard time figuring out when the coaster would be sitting upright - gives the whole things a nice zero-gravity sense.

If there was zero-gravity, the coaster wouldn't move. Or it would, but it wouldn't slow down. That's the main concept of coasters, you get pulled really high and gravity pulls you down and kinetic energy does the rest. Other than that, I have no clue what I am talking about.

I love these types of rides. The ones that make you question which way is up and which way is down. You can really only tell at the short break line in the center of the ride. Then they throw you for a loop again. This one is especially good because it's as if you're in space flying through the death star and the lack of direction ties in perfectly.

The great thing about it if it was real is that there is so little points of reference, no line of horizon and you would easily lose any sense of up and down. Nicely done!

sorta but not realy. space mountain use to be (at least when i was a kid) incredibly dark with nothing but the simulated stars for lighting on any portion of the track or surrounding area. after they had to take it down for a good year and a half they pumped up the lighting and redecorated so now its better lit but everything but the coaster itself is painted black with white glow in the dark spots that dont make much of a difference because the entire room is lit up enough now that you can see all the steel beams holding up the coaster that you zoom past and under. this ride here is probably just as lit. seeing that its still dark but because everything is metalic silver colored its more visable then space panted steel. ...its sad that i know this much and took the time to type this....

I didn't make the Death Star! And it's not really a 1:1 recreation either. Also, I was at the livestream - it was awesome. I chatted mostly on Discord though, the chat was way too fast too keep up.

The whole ride is inside a huge box of terraforming and dark during night and day, the cube lights provide stars.

Thanks! Event triggers are new in the beta release, I wish I could've used them here but without them I wasn't sure how to add more darkride effects. The space indeed is a large box of terraforming with white lights.
