I like aspects of all 10 POTA movies. The original POTA (1968) is an all time classic and definitely deserves respect for starting this great franchise. I understand that Beneath the POTA gets a lot of hate but I’ve always liked this one. Granted I like weird movies so I think I was primed for it. The mutated humans worshipping an atom bomb is so weird that couldn’t help but always be kindof into the movie lol. Also I think this is the grimmest and darkest POTA movie, and that’s saying something because I think all 5 of the original POTA movies end pretty dark actually. I agree that Escape from POTA is the second best of the original movies, it’s such a cool time travel movie and I like how it’s like an inversion of the first movie in air of ways. Also again, has a grim ending. I like how you mentioned that Conquest and Battle for the POTA have similarities to Rise and Dawn. I’ve always felt that way, in fact when I first saw Rise and Dawn (and to an extant War also, but more so Dawn) I remember telling my friends who haven’t seen seen the original movies that Caesar trilogy is in alot of ways like really good remakes of Conquest and Battle lol. Tim Burtons movie I agree is the weakest movie, but I still enjoy aspects of it. The best thing I can say about this movie is that I think the prosthetics and makeup effects for the apes is top tier, and honestly some of the best prosthetics/makeup in any movie. It looks absolutely incredible it’s that good. It’s just a shame that it wasn’t used for a better movie. Pretty much the effects are the only reason why I’ll revisit this one on a POTA film binge. As for the Caesar trilogy and now Kingdom, yes I love this new reimagining of the franchise. I’ve liked them all so far and the filmmakers definitely seem to have a deep respect for the franchise and the original films as well. I seriously hope that the next 5 movies they have planned actually happen and are good.

Awesome ranking YK! I have only seen the Matt Reeves trilogy, I never knew Tim Burton did one back when 😂 I haven’t seen Kingdom as of this ranking yet but I’ve heard it’s a great set up like you say of things to come / new trilogy 🙂

I'll have to rewatch the originals soon. I enjoyed the new series a lot; even the new film was decent. Rise is definitely the goat for me though. Just brought my interest right back.

As a kid, many years ago, our theater used to have Planet of the Apes marathons. You got a hotdog for lunch and could buy extra of course. Parents were able to get cheap babysitting for about 8 hours. I seem to remember Beneath the Planet to be one of my favorites. Of course I was 10.
