Delegates at the climate change talks at COP26 have discussed the issue of how industrial food production is draining the planet's resources.
Yet one country rich in renewable energy is showing how a controlled growing environment could be a sustainable farming model for the rest of the world.
Al Jazeera’s Charlie Angela reports from Reykholt, Iceland.

It's funny but a few hundred years ago all materials, industry and food production was sustainable. Profit is the main reason for cutting corners, pollution levels and ecologically damaging materials... and yes I'm well aware we have increased population dramatically, but as this story proves, it's about the will to change!

they have free heating and energy from the hot springs, any country would do that if they could

nope. it's not about being "smart". Its about being lucky with the resources. Iceland has more geothermal sources than rest of the Europe combined. Similarly thanks to its geography Norway is blessed with hydro energy. UK is blessed with ofshore wind sources... and some countries are blessed with neither, like Moldova.

In tropical countries there's a lot growing banana everywhere no more worries because it's every year ... but in the countries with 4 season they need to use big greenhouse to grow some crop's (like banana trees) to survive from cold weather of autumn, and winter

sustainable food production = glass buildings, glass, glass cutter, steel pipe, gate valves, copper wire, well-digging equipment, seed growers, etc.

" He sends down water (rain) from the sky; from it you drink and from it (grows) the vegetation on which you send your cattle to pasture. With it He causes to grow for you the crops, the olives, the date palms, the grapes and every kind of fruit. Verily, in this is indeed an evident proof and manifest sign for a people who give thought ". (Qur'an 16:10,11)

Ironically "he" is not sending enough rain to the Arabian Peninsula, where "his" religion is dominant.
