Hey since you are both here and these planets may never align again.... I have an idea for a challenge. Those are my favorite videos. You each get assigned a noob..... You get to coach your minion to help them collect data on something easy to begin with. And it has to be the same target. Then the minion gives you their data and YOU have to process it for them. Best final image takes it. To keep things somewhat fair I think the noob should do the Autostakkert part and send the stacked image to their telemaster.... still working on the terminology for the the home game version. Just had another idea too..... A live stream quick draw shooting competition at high midnight. Competitors have a fixed time if we can get the time zones right. Pick a night and if the contestants think they can pull it off each gets 4 hours to collect their images and then you guys go head to head and process them live while everyone watches. It's like drag racing with telescopes.

It's a slippery slope, Robert! You'll start to regret meeting up with friends on clear nights, noticing it is only clear when there's a full moon and working out how to get observing gear out to family holidays :-).

After seeing some of the world class amateur shots from Korea and Japan, the mark is so high now. I’m very enthusiastic to shoot Jupiter. I will be tweaking my collimation on my Mewlon every time I set up now. Seeing here in Central Nebraska can get below 1 arc seconds some nights. I’d love one of those color correctors, but I just bought a Takahashi collimating telescope so… maybe later.

@@RefreshingViews Hi! I bought the 7" version. So far I'm in a honeymoon period where I'm just infatuated with it. It's finicky with air currents but does settle down eventually. I would love to have one of the big ones but I could never lug it up and down 2 flights of stairs. All the Mewlons look the business (for 1968) and I love that about them.

Hi Muesli thank you! I use a skywatcher autofocuser, (with its simple hand controller) and 12V-9V DC converter so I can run it from my mount power supply.

looking at the image I took holding my canon m50 up to the eyepiece on my cheap used Orion Space Probe 3" I didn't do too bad! Cant wait till I get my collimating laser and Barlow lens this week!

It’s reflectix (or something like that) insulation from the hardware store (B&Q in England). Few quid for a roll so enough to cover several telescopes.

Nice guide! How does one get such high resolution image of Jupiter? Mine is 70x70px(1500mm,DSLR,2x barlow). When I try drizzle, sharpen starts producing horrible artifacts. Seems to me your image is at least 300x300?

I think it is a combination of things. I am using a 280mm aperture scope at f20 so roughly 5.5m focal length. And my camera is an astronomy camera rather than a DSLR so my pixel sizing might be making a difference.

If you try to use more wavelet functions you will see it's better than pushing one to the maximum. Much better.

The key is ticking the linked wavelets function so in effect they are all being adjusted.

That was me making an arty montage of the video merging into the processed image - showing the benefits of rejecting all the blurry frames.

Go to the 29:30 point and you can see the final image. Defo not the best but interestingly Jupiter is higher this year and already giving some awesome views. Just goes to show what a difference sky-altitude makes.

I was thinking about polishing my own mirror for a DIY Dobson.... Then, after I watched a lot of YT video on the topic. unfortunately.... Unfortunately I realise that even with very expensive instruments, I will get deceptive image at best (no offense). I might go to my local astronomy club for few nights of observation with people sharing their gear, and then change to another hobby. Still, thumbs up on all your video

I’ve done one early Jupiter and Mars but they’re still a bit too early on a work day - plus it doesn’t really get dark here at 51N until August so observing is on the back burner (other than a club trip to the wonderfully dark skies of Tenerife).

That’s my workhorse skywatcher EQ6 Pro and controlled with synscan over wifi adapter. I much prefer it to the handset - and using wifi is vibration free.

Why not just align the finder scope accurately with the main scope and forget about the flip mirror 🤔.

The field of view is too small at f20 - plus the ADC moves the image around. A bigger chip would help - one day I’ll upgrade!

Have you downloaded the ASI ZWO drivers, Arc? And yes the ADC makes a difference - certainly from my site at 51 deg in England.

I use the "load scheme" and "save scheme" - under the wavelet sliders. I just worked out what was best for my set up and conditions and saved them ready to use next time.
